Can You See It?

By Shane Kirkpatrick

I woke this morning from a very real and vivid dream. I was preaching back at my home church, the message God laid on my heart was simply beautiful. I could see the church members faces clearly and we also had a visiting church with us. I recall standing down on the floor level and asking a very simple question. Can you see it? That’s when the tears started to roll off of not only my face, but most of the congregation. When we can see our sin in the face of Jesus; it broke hearts.

~ The image was this, Jesus was bearing the cross. His clothes tattered, face beaten and swollen, crown of thorns piercing his forehead, dragging that old rugged cross because of “Our” sin. Can you see it? Can you see the pain and agony on his face as he wears that cross upon his back, nailed to it for you and for me?

[21] But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. (Luke 23:21 KJV)

[28] And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. [29] And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! [30] And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. [31] And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him. (Matthew 27:28-31 KJV)

[17] And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha (John 19:17 KJV)

~ Can you see it? Can you see the victory Jesus had over sin? Can you see the love of the Father that gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life? Can you see the love of Jesus, who willingly gave his life for you and for me? Can you see it? My heart melts a little this morning, when I think of what Jesus went through for you and I and how little we pay attention to that sacrifice he so freely gave. What love! Thank you Lord Jesus! Friend, if you can see it, its time to do something about it. Tell someone of His love for you. Have a blessed and awesome day!

Lord, thank you for this reminder. Thank you for this message. Thank you for loving me and thank you for Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
