The Pastor is responsible for providing administrative leadership for the church and for using his skills in proclamation and pastoral care in meeting the needs of persons in the church and community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A. He is the spiritual leader and overseer of the congregation.
B. Provide administrative leadership for the total church program.
C. Serve as chairman or delegate and share the leadership of the Church Council with such other staff members as he may, from time to time, designate.
D. Proclaim the Gospel and lead the church in proclaiming the Gospel to the church and community.
E. Lead the staff and the church in a caring ministry for persons in the church and the community.
F. Lead or delegate the leadership of the congregational services: plan, coordinate and evaluate congregational services.
G. Preach at all worship services that include preaching or arrange for someone else to perform this function.
H. Serve as moderator of the church.
I. Recommend and advise on the selection of all staff members and in determining their duties.
J. Give supervision to other members of the church staff according to the staff organization set forth in the Church Organization Chart.
K. Plan for and provide leadership in the observance of the church ordinances.
L. Conduct funeral services and wedding ceremonies as he is able, sharing and delegating to others on the staff responsibilities in this area.
M. Appoint committees as set forth in the By-laws and other such special committees as the church may request or he may deem advisable from time to time. The Pastor will be an ex-officio member of all organizations, departments and committees. May call a special meeting of the deacons or any committee according to the procedures which are set forth in the by-laws.
N. Counsel with and assist in training deacons for their responsibilities.
