    Job Description

    Personal Spiritual Growth and Call
    As leader of the Children’s Ministry of FBC Blackshear, you are expected to:

    Engage in a growing walk with Christ (maintaining habits of personal spiritual discipline).
    Attend corporate worship weekly.
    Spend time daily in Bible study, reflection, and prayer.
    Live as a role model reflecting a living faith for both children and adults.
    Feel a God-ordained call to, and a passion for, ministry to children.
    Reflect a superior theological, theoretical, and practical knowledge and skill in leadership and ministry.
    Commitment to continuing education and growth through reading, attending conferences, formal classwork, and other professional development opportunities.
    Commit to traditional Baptist beliefs and distinctives, especially as they relate to the life and workings of a Baptist congregation.
    Display an aptitude for teaching, coaching, and training.

    Ministry Objectives
    Minister to the spiritual needs of children and families.
    Minister to, and counsel, children, volunteers, and families.
    Minister to families with new babies.
    Minister to families and children in times of crisis.
    Maintain a presence during Sunday and Wednesday programs.
    Maintain effective follow-up strategies with guests and baptism candidates.
    Spend time in Sunday and Wednesday classes to get to know children.
    Provide special events geared toward strengthening the family (Couples Night Out, Family Nights, Parenting Workshops, etc.)
    Provide principle leadership to major Children’s Ministry trips, camps, retreats, and fellowship and outreach events (VBS, Fall Festival, CentriKid, etc.)
    Develop healthy family and community relationships outside of normal Sunday and Wednesday ministry schedules.
    Facilitate staffing for effective ministry to children.
    Identify, process, and equip volunteers for programming and events.
    In conjunction with the Nominating Committee, recruit and identify teachers and volunteers for Children’s classes.
    Mentor and partner with “directors” to assist in ensuring all programs and events are adequately staffed and staff is adequately prepared.
    Ensure that resources are available for volunteers.
    Provide training as needed for volunteers.
    Ensure substitute teachers/leaders are in place during the absence of regular teacher.
    Encourage and train volunteers.
    Provide encouragement to volunteers regularly (recognizing excellence, sending cards, etc.)
    Maintain a presence to assist volunteers as needed.
    Work in support with Children’s Committee.
    Hold meetings as needed to assess the needs of the Children’s Ministry.
    Oversee the paid childcare ministry.
    Recruit and lead paid staff to serve with a commitment to God’s Word, a “whatever it takes” attitude, a spirit of excellence, and a selfless disposition.
    Conduct yearly evaluations with staff members.

    Coordinate resources and schedules related to programs and events
    Communicate with all volunteers, ministry teams, and staff.
    Regularly evaluate/adjust programming based on current needs.
    Request and maintain supplies for the resource room and children’s ministries.
    Communicate through the First Word, website, app, and other approved media as necessary.
    Advise in use of program materials, equipment, supplies, and space used by Children’s Ministries.
    Prepare and administer the annual budgets for the Children’s Ministry with wise and reasonable fiscal responsibility.

    Minister in the whole life of the church
    Attend and fully participate in regular and specially called meetings.
    Participate in staff meetings.
    Participate in pastoral care ministry.
    Perform pastoral duties as assigned or requested.
