    Job Description

    Purpose:
    To assist parents in disciplining children (K-5th grades) toward the goal of their growing in a mature faith in Christ, embracing a Christian world and life view, learning to share their faith with others, and living obedient, worshipful, and servant-minded lives that bring glory to God, by overseeing the children’s ministries at the church.

    Details:
    This position is a full-time role, as a member of Redeemer church, under the supervision of the Session and reporting administratively to the Senior Pastor. It includes salary ($40,000 – $50,000) and benefits commensurate with full-time work. Redeemer Church is a PCA congregation located in the suburbs of Tampa, Florida.

    Responsibilities:
    ● Develop a passion in the children of Redeemer for knowing God’s Word, participating in the Church, growing in their faith, and sharing the Gospel.
    ● Oversee the planning and implementing of all children’s events. These events currently include both weekly and yearly special events/activities.
    o The current weekly events include: Redeemer Kids (children’s worship occurring during the sermon time of adult worship), Children’s Sunday School (meets weekly except as noted), and a Sunday evening children’s program (curriculum has varied). We are exploring adding a MOPS program or regular mid-week children’s activity as well.
    o The current yearly activities include (but not limited to): Boyette Sports Soccer Program (12 weeks), VBS (5 days), Easter Egg Hunt, Fall Festival, Christmas Party, and Christmas Play/Program.
    ● Attend all children ministry events (unless exceptional circumstances arise).
    ● Recruit and train lay leaders to assist in activities (nursery, children’s church, Sunday School, etc): all helpers must be approved by Session and complete a criminal background check.
    ● Coordinate and oversee childcare for regular and special events. We have both paid nursery workers as well as volunteers.
    ● Review, develop, and implement curriculum and program goals for children’s ministries. All curriculum selection is subject to the approval of Session.
    ● Provide additional administrative support for the church related to children’s ministry (e.g. maintaining church calendar, providing appropriate church communications, copying materials, etc.) Keep cabinets, materials, and resources of various children’s ministries organized.
    ● Manage communications with parents and families regarding events and activities.
    ● Meet weekly with pastoral staff at staff meetings for communication, evaluation, and planning.
    ● Attend Session meetings monthly (or as requested) and submit monthly written reports on children ministries at Redeemer.
    ● Make connections with families with children to get them plugged into the children’s ministry programs at Redeemer.
    ● Pray for and encourage the children.
    ● Pray for, encourage, and check-in with children’s families and ministry volunteers.

    Requirements:
    ● A saving faith in Jesus Christ
    ● A commitment to the Reformed faith as outlined in the Westminster Standards
    ● A sense of calling to minister in the PCA
    ● A lifestyle that is consistent with the teaching of Scripture
    ● Experience working with children (paid or volunteer)
    ● Theological training and/or comparable prior ministry experience
    ● Demonstrates a passion for and gifts relating to children and their families
    ● Strong organizational and administrative skills
    ● Plan 6-12 months in advance, coordinating logistical and event details
    ● Have appropriate communication skills with children, parents and congregation.
