    Crossroads Community Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin is looking for a full time Associate Pastor of Youth Ministry.  This person will oversee an outreach focused youth group currently reaching 300+ students per week, with 150+ adult serving team members.  They will also supervise and work closely with two current staff members, the Director of Youth Ministry and the Youth Ministry Administrative Coordinator.  This person is an essential part of our pastoral team and more than just a youth pastor.  They will get opportunities to teach, preach, counsel, and connect with families at Crossroads.  This person is a gifted leader and communicator with a shepherd’s heart and a love for students.

    What you will do:

    • Recruit, train, and lead adult serving team members who shepherd students in small groups
    • Teach the word of God to students most Wednesdays at RUSH
    • Partner with parents to raise their students to know and follow Christ
    • Provide pastoral care for students and their families
    • Serve as part of the Sunday morning preaching team

    Basic Function
    The Associate Pastor – Youth Ministry position primarily focuses on the pastoral responsibilities related to the youth of Crossroads. This position is responsible for the overall direction and leadership of our youth ministry (RUSH). This includes leading the adult serving team members and overseeing the spiritual shepherding of our youth group-aged students (6th -12th grade), while also
    partnering with parents as they take the lead in raising their children to love and serve Jesus. The Associate Pastor – Youth Ministry will also be called on to perform general associate pastor responsibilities as assigned by the Senior and Staff Pastors as needed.

    Specific Ministry Responsibilities:
    Leadership and Serving Team Development
    • Responsible to oversee the Director of Youth Ministry and Youth Ministry Administrative Coordinator staff members
    • Responsible for overseeing the recruitment, training, and ongoing development of RUSH  leaders and serving team members, as they are the foundation of the youth ministry
    • Encourages, coaches, challenges, and personally invests in the leaders of RUSH to build into their lives and assist them in their vital roles
    • Provides training on regular basis for team of leaders and serving team members

    Spiritual Shepherding & Pastoral Care of Students
    • Oversees the RUSH preaching calendar and development of small group lessons
    o Teaches a majority of the large group sessions
    o Develops others to teach in large group
    o Helps students develop a Biblical worldview
    • Takes a balanced approach to ministry that mirrors the overall Crossroads ministry model
    • Has a passion for evangelism and sees to it that RUSH is unapologetically outreach-focused
    • Creates a ministry that is a safe place for unbelieving students to explore who Jesus is
    • Has a passion for discipleship and works diligently to help students identify and take next steps in their growing relationship with Christ
    • Is actively involved in the lives of students as a source of Biblical counsel
    • Ensures that students going through difficult situations are loved and cared for through the network of small group leaders and parents

    Partnering with Parents
    • Works to create a partnership between parents and the small group leaders in the spiritual upbringing of our students
    • Ensures parents realize that they are to be the leaders in raising their student(s) to love and serve Jesus, while providing parents with assistance as needed
    • Research resources to provide parents with outside resources to assist in parenting
    • Communicates openly and transparently with parents regarding issues being seen with their students so that the student can best grow in their walk with Jesus.
    • Actively encourages parents to take active serving roles in our youth ministry
    • Communicates thoroughly with parents regarding activities and direction of RUSH Sunday Morning Preaching & Programming
    • Able to preach God’s Word in a compelling style that connects with students and adults who are at different stages of their spiritual journey
    • Acts as part of the team responsible for planning related to the Sunday services and completes duties related to this responsibility creatively and efficiently

    Other Associate Pastor Responsibilities
    • Shares counseling responsibilities with other pastors and staff members as assigned
    • Could be called on to supervise other ministry areas as assigned by the Senior or Staff Pastor. This may include areas outside of the main responsibilities listed above
    • Supervises special events within the church on an as-directed basis
    • Performs other duties as requested by the Senior or Staff Pastor including, but not limited to visitation, weddings, funerals, administrative pastoral responsibilities, evangelism opportunities, follow-up, etc.

    Personal Qualifications Required:
    • Must maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer, and time spent contemplating God’s Word
    • Must maintain proper priorities in your home in accordance with 1 Timothy 3
    • Commits to the principle of tithing 10% of gross income and financially supports the ministries of Crossroads Community Church
    • Approachable and relatable for students, is someone students will want to go to for Biblical counsel

    Strengths, Giftedness, Experience, & Miscellaneous Requirements:
    • Strong grasp of Scripture and Biblical principles
    • Clear and previously demonstrated love and passion for students
    • Demonstrated leadership ability and is willing to continue to develop as a leader
    • Organizational and administrative skills
    • Creativity and flexibility to adapt as needed
    • Comfortable with recruiting and training of serving team members
    • Possesses a shepherd’s heart and has clearly demonstrated this through past actions
    • Is able to effectively teach God’s Word to others, particularly students
    • Understands ministry is not a “9 to 5 job” and is willing to dedicate a minimum of two nights per week to ministry related activities. Night demands are balanced with flexibility that is present with the position to promote a healthy work/life balance
    • Actively lives out and models for the church a strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Crossroads
    • Agrees fully with the Converge Affirmation of Faith and Crossroads Community Church Statement of Faith
    • Comfortable and willing to lovingly challenge leaders, serving team members, or church members as needed when issues arise as well as admitting their own mistakes
    • Commits to resolve conflict via Biblical guidelines spelled out in Matthew
    • Must be a person people can relate to and find easy to approach
    • Regardless of areas of giftedness, must still have a heart for outreach
    • Basic software skills are required. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
    • Prior paid youth ministry and seminary experience is not required. However, any candidate must demonstrate how they have been actively involved in the ministries of their local church 9and speak to why they believe it has prepared them for this role. They should also be prepared to speak to their plan for pursuing further education if they have not yet done so

    Relationships and Contacts:
    • Reports to the Senior and Staff Pastors
    • Oversee Director of Youth Ministry and Youth Ministry Administrative Coordinator
    • Frequent contact with other Ministry Leaders
    • Works closely with other staff members
    • Works closely with RUSH leadership team
    • Reports out to the Elder Team as requested
    • Works with outside contacts, including other youth leaders and pastors, to continually examine and improve the effectiveness of the ministries at Crossroads

    Time Commitment:
    Full time position of 40 + base hours per week. Hours will be a combination of office hours with a strong number of hours occurring outside the office to be where students are. Nights and weekend hours are driven by needs of the ministry
