    Job Description

    Associate Pastor of Students Mission Statement “The people of Dawson Street Baptist Church are a united spiritual body of baptized believers.  We recognize that Christ is over all things.  We seek God’s will through prayer and believe that God’s infallible word is our guide.  Our mission is to love God and all people, to assemble ourselves together for praise and worship, and to reach and teach people to become disciples of Christ.” The Associate Pastor of Students works together with the Senior Pastor and Church Staff to offer leadership that enhances and supports the church’s practical ability to fulfill its ministry mission. Qualifications/Skills Is a believer in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Has an Associate Degree from an accredited college. Has a diploma from seminary. Is an ordained Minister of the Gospel Ministry. Has previous youth ministry experience (volunteer or paid). Has experience in administrative procedures and supervision of personnel. Skilled in the operation and maintenance of sound, lighting, and media equipment. Consents to a Driver’s History Record and a Criminal History Report. Be willing to obtain a CDL license. Applies a team concept in working with all office personnel.

    A. Youth Develop a written overall youth ministry plan (with input from the Youth Ministry Team). Work with the Youth Ministry Team to evaluate the overall youth ministry plan quarterly. Enlist the help and support of Youth Ministry Team in planning and implementing youth activities. Inform the parents of the youth activities in a timely manner. Lead youth in ongoing discipleship training. Encourage and guide the youth in spiritual and life decisions. Develop a plan for and lead in a visitation and outreach ministry for the youth. Develop strategies to equip parents and youth workers. Coordinate the church calendar with other staff. Prepare and administer the Youth Ministry Budget.

    B. College/Singles 1. Work closely with the pastor and  College/Singles leadership in the setting of goals and plans for    the college/singles ministry to: a. Promote and implement Bible studies. b. Develop growth strategies. c. Organize an outreach/visitation program.

    C. Preschool/Children Work with the Assoc. Pastor of D & A in the selection and development of teaching curriculum. Work with the Assoc. Pastor of D & A  in organizing and implementing Sunday School growth strategies. Work with Assoc. Pastor of D & A in promoting and implementing Bible study, visitation/outreach. Work with and support the Children’s Ministry Director with resources, encouragement, and oversight in the Children’s Ministry. Work with the Vacation Bible School Director in planning and promoting Vacation Bible School. Work with and support the Nursery Director with resources, encouragement, and oversight in the Preschool Ministry.

    D. Ministry/Committee Team Responsibilities Youth Ministry Team Children’s Church Ministry Team

    E. Total Church Ministry Keep the Church informed of the ministry areas. Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings. Coordinate church calendar with other staff. Attend and participate as a member of the Church Leadership Team. Participate in church-wide outreach/visitation ministry. Visit members, new members, prospective members, the sick at home, at hospitals, and in nursing homes in coordination with other staff. Be available to operate the audio/video equipment as needed. Various other duties as assigned by the Pastor. Attend the Safety, Security Policy and Procedures information meetings.

    F. Personal Ministry Spend time with God daily. Do not neglect your family. Pray for the church body as a whole and for the education and youth ministry.

    G. Community Ministry Be available to participate in youth community functions, speak at clubs, school functions, etc. when requested and available.

    H. Convention Ministry Cooperate with Associational, State, and Convention leaders in promoting activities of the denomination and church. If possible, attend the GA Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention meetings (In coordination with other staff members, as an appointed messenger representing Dawson Street Baptist Church.
