    Job Description

    Reports to: Lead Pastor

    Supervises: Select lay leaders, non-ordained ministry staff, & ministries specific interns

    Status: Full-time Exempt


    The Associate Pastor of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries will play an essential role as we seek to accomplish our congregations’ missional purposes. In addition to common congregational goals around thriving families, we believe our unique contribution to Christ’s Church is to develop young leaders equipped to serve among us, and wherever God eventually calls them. We believe our unique contribution to our community is our campus. We see it as God’s gift, not to us, but to our community, allowing us to contribute to the thriving of our community in ways that reflect God’s grace, generosity, purposes. Because of this, the Associate Pastor of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries will endeavor to disciple families, develop and equip leaders, and serve our nearby communities in ways that contribute to “the good of the city”. In every way possible, we long to point people toward God and into God’s good purposes.

    Essential Functions

    Work with current ministry staff and volunteer ministry leaders to engage new and existing church family members in life-giving ministry involvement.  Communicate those opportunities broadly and fill key positions.

    Develop a healthy ministry volunteer culture marked by enjoyment, longevity, continued equipping, and regular encouragement.

    Actively participate with the Westmont Internship program. Assist ministry staff and others to provide leadership and coaching for our interns.

    Develop ministry models that make disciples who make disciples.

    Determine and coordinate children, youth, and family discipleship curriculum that is cohesive, developmental, and missional.

    Build Sunday morning welcome, hospitality, and ministry teams’ support.

    Plan and oversee events, retreats, and travel that reflect MCC values and objectives.


    Excellent management and people skills to embrace diversity of schedules, backgrounds, formats, contexts, etc. Uses critical thinking skills, applying logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to address challenges. Detail oriented, strong organization, prioritization and time-management skills are eminent.
    Works well under pressure and can accomplish multiple tasks, with conflicting priorities and timelines. Self-starter, with the ability to work both independently and in teams.


    Minimum 3-5 years ministry experience in areas of youth/family.

    Demonstrated strengths in team leadership and supervision.

    Demonstrated strengths in leadership development and empowerment.

    Master’s degree and ECC credentials (Ministry License) or commitment to ECC credentialing.
