    PREFERRED SENIOR PASTOR PROFILE

    1. Proclamation of the Word
    a. Strong expository preacher able to faithfully communicate God’s Word
    b. Preachesthe whole counsel of God relevant to all life stages and knowledgeable of cultural concerns
    c. Understanding of and commitment to Reformed Theology
    d. Strong teacher who assists with Sunday school and Christianity Explored and leads Explore Westminster as needed
    e. Faithfully administrate sacraments

    2. Congregational Fellowship
    a. Emphasis placed on developing love and support within the membership of the church
    b. Encourages activities that give members opportunitiesto get to know one another
    c. Visits and prays for the sick
    d. Ensures enfolding of new members and regular attenders into the congregation
    e. Promotes the peace, purity, and unity of the church

    3. Missions/Evangelism
    a. Personally engages in evangelism, outreach, and missions
    b. Equips members of WPC for personal and worldwide evangelism, outreach, and missions
    c. Encourages WPC members to engage in personal and worldwide evangelism

    JOB DESCRIPTION
    (50 hours/week)

    Purpose: The SP is responsible for leading the congregation through a ministry of preaching, teaching, and prayer to bring about greater spiritual maturity, ministry, and evangelistic outreach in the membership of the congregation.

    Oversight: Ministry Directors and lay leadership

    Worship (Ministry of the Word, Sacraments, Prayer) (45%)
    • Study at a consistent depth for adequate teaching and preaching in the worship service
    • Pray regularly for the church and its members privately and corporately
    • Lead, preach, and administer the Sacraments in the worship service
    • Work directly with Director of Worship to plan weekly worship services
    Evangelism (Missions, Outreach) (25%)
    • Develop, maintain, and lead the congregation in its ongoing evangelism, mission, and outreach focus
    • Personally engage in regular evangelism, outreach, and missions – local, national, and international, while equipping others to do the same
    • Lead a minimum of one mission trip per year open to the membership of Westminster

    Discipleship (Leadership Development, Shepherding) (25%)
    • Lead the Session and staff in determining and executing God’s vision for Westminster
    • Communicate the vision of Westminster to staff and members continually
    • Shepherd the staff through regular staff meetings, onsite prayer retreats, and special all-staff retreats
    • Equip the church – members and officers – to carry out their God-given potential for ministry through officer training and other avenues of leadership development
    • Align the ministries of the church directly with the mission and vision of Westminster(pca)
    • Promote and teach the Christian education of the church, including Sunday school and small group involvement
    • Assimilate newcomers into the life and fellowship of the church through Explore Westminster classes and other avenues as appropriate
    • Arrange for the best possible care for the congregation through elders, deacons, and laity
    • Shepherd the shepherds of the congregation and missionaries
    • Conduct weddings, funerals, and counseling
    • Minister by phone, email, letters, and in-person to the body
    • Lead the Session and other applicable leaders in exercising appropriate church oversight and authority, including the use of discipline when necessary

    Administration (5%)
    • Oversee day-to-day functions of the church office
    • Maintain ongoing, regular communication with Summit Christian School Head of School
    • Provide consistent, measurable feedback to the staff
    • Assist in preparation of the church budget
    • Perform annual staff evaluations to promote greater effectiveness and job satisfaction among staff
    • Active participation in the Suncoast Florida Presbytery and the PCA General Assembly.
