    Job Description

    Our Worship ministry is comprised of over 30 eager volunteers who are musicians, vocalists, audio/video technicians, and creative team members.  We are excited to welcome a leader who will grow us to deeper maturity as worshippers, help us to engage our unchurched friends in worship, and creatively utilize the arts to glorify God.

    Basic Goals for this position: 

    • To deepen the discipleship maturity of the church by growing us toward whole-hearted worship and adoration of God.
    • To provide ways for those not yet actively following Jesus to experience His presence in worship and be drawn to Him.
    • To instill a passionate culture of worship at FCC through creative utilization of the arts in a fashion that leads to life transformation.

    • Possess and demonstrate strong musical abilities, both vocally and instrumentally.
    • Exhibit strong communication skills and a high level of creativity.
    • Be team-oriented and capable of leading a ministry administratively both directly and through delegation.
    • Possess strong relational and leadership skills for recruiting, equipping, motivating, and thanking worship team members.
    • Possess the appropriate education, training, and experience for the position – a minimum of a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
    • Hold to a theology of worship that aligns with the faith statement, mission, vision, and values of FCC.
    • Exude a commitment to personal outreach in daily life that others can model.
    • Proficiency in Pro Presenter and Planning Center preferred.


     Duties & Areas of Oversight:

    • Serve as the primary worship leader and developer of others on the worship team for the church’s corporate times of worship.
    • Design worship services and the elements that contribute to them with the assistance of a creative team that will glorify God, keep Jesus Christ central, edify believers, and appeal to the un-churched.
    • Develop and lead the teams of people within the worship ministry and assist in their spiritual formation pastorally. These teams include, but are not limited to instrumentalists, vocalists, audio/visual technicians, and creative team members.
    • Emphasize the recruiting and training up of young people within the worship ministry as a way to develop their leadership and to create a continuous pipeline of gifted team members.
    • Ensure stage and set design is ready for each message series.
    • Develop and lead a team to produce in-house videos for testimonies, sermon bumpers, and event promotion.
    • Coordinate cohesive worship experiences that bring together the promotional materials, stage design, creative service elements, screen graphics, service flow, song choices, lighting, etc.
    • Ensure all materials and communications for each service are in Planning Center Services well in advance of each worship service.
    • Manage worship resources and equipment in the Worship Room.
    • Help to plan and implement special outreach events at various times of the year such as Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Christmas.

    General Expectations: 

    • Be growing as a personal worshipper by spending time in prayer and in God’s Word on a daily basis.
    • Be involved in personal discipleship through an FCC Life Group.
    • Be present for the teaching time of at least one worship service each Sunday.
    • Be a team player with the staff team in the overall planning and fulfillment of strategic programs and events.
    • Stay current with ministry trends through reading, podcasts, networking, and attending approved conferences, etc.
    • Maintain flexible working hours as determined by the needs of the ministry.
    • Maintain close working relationship and ongoing communication with the Lead Minister for worship planning related to each message series.
    • Meet regularly with the Lead Minister to assess progress toward yearly goals.
    • Perform ministerial duties such as hospital visitation, weddings, and funerals as circumstances dictate.
    • Adhere to the First Christian Church Employee Handbook for matters of workplace conduct.
