The First Christian Reformed Church of Crown Point (IN) is searching for a full time Associate Pastor who will bring creative and strategic energy to our growing ministry and mission. He will be a member of our Ministry Staff team—led by Pastor Fred De Jong—and will have the opportunity to share in a variety of ministry areas including ministry coordination, volunteer development, community outreach, preaching, pastoral care, and administration. He will be passionate about our vision to grow deeper in discipleship while partnering in our community to share and show Christ’s love in relational settings.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep faith, a teachable spirit, self-starting motivation, effective communication and leadership skills. He will work well in team settings, connecting with individuals while strategically developing ministry areas to implement our vision.

The candidate should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (masters degree preferred), five years of ministry experience, familiarity and alignment with the teachings of the Christian Reformed Church, and have experience as an effective preacher.

GENERAL POSITION

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Ministry Coordination and Volunteer Development

• Guide members to engage in the life of the church in ways that promote spiritual growth and service
• Develop and guide ministries in consultation with the Lead Pastor and coordination with the Adult Discipleship Leader
• Participate in leadership development in the broad scope of the church and for specific ministry areas
• Create fellowship opportunities in the congregation

Community Outreach

• Guide initiatives that carry out the church’s vision to reach the Crown Point community and beyond
• Initiate and oversee community partnerships to share and show Christ’s love
• Oversee First Impressions to effectively welcome and connect new attendees
• Share with the Lead Pastor in preparing people for membership from non-church or other church backgrounds

Preaching

• Preach approximately one-fourth of the Sundays as skills and interest allow according to need and as scheduled in agreement with the elders

Pastoral Care and Counseling

• Fully share in the pastoral care of the church with the Lead Pastor, Elders and Care Team, including visits to the sick, hospitalized and shut-ins
• Share in counseling, weddings and funerals as needed

 Administration

• Support the Lead Pastor by sharing in the administrative of the work of the church
• Serve as an Elder and as the Lead Pastor’s alternate to classis

Reporting Structure

• Reports directly to the Lead Pastor and follows the organizational structure as approved by Council
