Job Description

The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin seeks a part-time Director of Music. The ideal candidate will have a firm understanding and appreciation of Episcopal/Anglican liturgy, with a minimum of five years’ experience. The incumbent will be a “people person,” with a passion for structuring and leading a choral program of excellence through community building. An advanced degree in music/organ is preferred, but not required.

The Director of Music is primarily responsible for all music at the 10 a.m. Sunday Eucharist, for conducting weekly choir rehearsals, as well as working with the Priest-in-Charge on liturgies during Advent to Christmas and Ash Wednesday to Easter. The Director of Music will work with an experienced volunteer choir of about 8 dedicated members and is encouraged to expand the existing adult choir as well as develop a children’s program.

Hours would average 10-12 hours per week; salary range is $20,000-$25,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Please visit our website: www.smtv.org, for details on the present program and information about our organ.
