    Job Description

Purpose: Model Jesus, Share the Gospel and Shape Students into Mature Followers of Jesus Christ who are doing His work in His way.

Ministry Relationships: A team player who reports directly to the Sr. Pastor, and who works closely with Youth Ministry Chair, with Parents (ultimately you are there to support their ministry to their own kids– communication is key), and in cooperation with the Director of Children’s and Parents’ Ministries, the Director of Family Care and the Sonshine Learning Center Director (preschool and after-school program). We work together as a team for God’s glory and the health of His Church Family.  Empowered to recruit and recommend one to two youth interns for hire.

Compensation: $24/hour to $28/hr depending on experience; 2 weeks vacation

Experience: 3-5 years of youth ministry leadership experience preferred

    Contact Work (enter their world)

Just as Jesus took on flesh and entered our world to be with us, you will make personal contact with Jr and Sr High students a hallmark of our youth ministries: going to their sporting events, dramas, performances; meet them for lunch, share meals with them (hang out where they are hanging out).  Take volunteer leaders along with you and mentor them to multiply incarnational ministry.  Make sure every student has a volunteer checking in on him/her. Cultivate relationships with pre-teens in our Children’s Ministry and Sonshine.

    Expanding their horizon

Expose students to serving the poor, the needy and the lost in our community (service projects) and in cross cultural contexts (mission trips); introduce them to leadership opportunities within youth ministry, and the larger church context (cast the vision that they are crucial to Christ’s Body and the work He has for us). Take students away on yearly retreats/camps and mission trips.

Discipling Jr. and Sr. High Students

We are here on earth to follow Jesus and to help others follow Him. Everything you do will be about helping students to go deeper with God, grow closer to each other, and reach out further into the world with the Gospel. Introduce teens to Jesus at weekly youth night gatherings (encourage core to bring friends as outreach). Form discipling/shepherding groups for guys and gals. Lead Sunday Morning Youth LifeGroup.  Lead Jr. High Confirmation (deep dive on Bible and what it means to follow Jesus).

    Mentoring For Multiplication

Jesus discipled disciple-makers and we believe that we serve the Kingdom best when we mentor people to join us in leadership. Recruiting and discipling leadership teams for both Jr & Sr High is key. Director will recruit and mentor intern(s) and leaders through weekly and monthly huddles to pray, give feedback and assignments. Meet monthly with Youth chair and Board, and twice yearly with youth leaders for long term planning.
