    Job Description

    The Tapestry Church (Marpole Campus) in Vancouver, BC is looking for a creative, community-minded person to bring strong leadership and administrative oversight to our community life.

    The Associate Pastor will provide leadership, guidance and oversight to:

    1. Family ministries, including Tap Kids and
    2. Community life, including Tap Groups, integration and hospitality.

    Working with a team of leaders and volunteers, the Associate Pastor will

    1. Oversee weekly and seasonal faith-formation programs for children 0-17 years of age and develop/support ministries for parents and couples
    2. Support the launch and growth of small groups, newcomer integration strategies, community events, and other discipleship programs such as Alpha, Sanctuary Course, etc.

    We are looking for a creative, community-minded person to bring strong leadership and administrative oversight to our community life; including small groups, integration of newcomers as well as our growing family ministries; including Tap Kids and Couples ministry. Working in collaboration with our pastor and leadership team to implement our vision to “make disciples who make disciples…,” the successful applicant will coordinate all leadership, curriculum and programming needs related to small groups and the faith formation of children of the Tapestry Marpole.

    Areas of Responsibilities
    The Associate Pastor will provide leadership, guidance and oversight to: (I) Family ministries, including Tap Kids and (II) Community life, including Tap Groups, integration and hospitality. Working with a team of leaders and volunteers, the Associate Pastor will (I) oversee weekly and seasonal faith-formation programs for children 0-17 years of age and develop/support ministries for parents and couples; (II) support the launch and growth of small groups, newcomer integration strategies, community events, and other discipleship programs such as Alpha, Sanctuary Course, etc.

    Additionally, the Associate Pastor will (1) maintain a regular pastoral presence at corporate worship gatherings, (2) help plan and lead special services, (3) be willing to preach the Word and administer sacraments, (4) work relationally and systemically to integrate newcomers and members into pathways of discipleship, (5) create opportunities for leadership development, and            (6) oversee annually-set ministry budgets.

    Qualifications
    Successful candidates will be reliable, self-motivated, and able to create, develop and implement effective ministry strategies for the overall spiritual growth of children, families and church. They will have a theologically sound understanding of the Bible and will be able to teach God’s Word in an engaging way. Additionally, this person will have strong computer, administrative, organizational and communication skills and has a proven track record in recruiting, training and building teams of teachers, leaders and volunteers. Wise and strategic delegation skills will be an asset. Essential to this position is a willingness to minister to children and adults from all backgrounds and levels of faith. As the Associate Pastor, you must have a passion to see people of all ages grow in their faith.

    Education and Experience
    Successful candidate(s) will have completed or be in the process of completing formal theological training at either the Bachelor or Masters level. Outside of formal education, our matrix of selection is a combination of assessing Character, Competence, and Chemistry. First, we’re looking for people who are self-aware, humble, faithful, trustworthy, and have a bias towards action. Second, we’re looking for people who can create content, communicate effectively, build systems and structures, and lead groups of people. Third, we are looking for people who are collaborative and team-oriented and who can work adaptively in a work environment with continual adjusting priorities.
