    Job Description

    The role of the assistant pastor is a full-time commitment with responsibility for leading discipleship efforts, providing pastoral care for congregants, teaching, and occasionally leading worship and preaching.

     Maintain a lifestyle that is consistent with scripture and the essential tenets of ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians.
     Work collegially with the other pastors and session in a relationship of mutual accountability.
     Prepare and lead discipleship efforts at Palm City Presbyterian Church (PCPC). This would involve training and equipping small group leaders for our LifeGroup ministry.
     Provide pastoral care to include visitation, crisis care, and counseling
     In coordination with senior pastor
     Prepare, lead, pray, preach the Word, and administer the sacraments in Sunday worship and other services.
     As requested by senior pastor
     Teach classes.
     In coordination with senior pastor
     Officiate at weddings, baptisms and memorials as requested.
     Embrace and nurture the church family striving to build unity, healing, and fellowship. Reach out to strengthen existing, inactive, and new member relationships and connections.
     Attend weekly staff meetings to coordinate discipleship programs and administrative responsibilities.
     Attend meetings of the session.
     Represent the pastors on the Membership and Worship Committees.
     Work in partnership with the staff and other ministries to assist them in carrying out their assigned tasks.
     Adhere to PCPC policy as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

     A growing and vibrant faith with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
     Demonstrates people and communication skills; comfortable relating to people of all ages; warm and caring personality
     Teaching experience and ability to equip people at all stages of spiritual life and growth with a deepening knowledge and ability to apply Biblical principles in their daily lives
     Demonstrates significant theological and biblical competence reformed and evangelical in nature
     Preaching skills with the ability to effectively proclaim the gospel in a postmodern world
     Possesses an innovative spirit to help PCPC adapt, inspire leadership & maximize our assets
     Highly organized, self-motivated and able to collaborate with staff and members to execute the vision of PCPC with excellence
     Wholehearted agreement with the doctrinal statements of ECO
     Undergraduate degree required; Biblical studies or theology preferred
     Master’s degree from an accredited theological seminary in biblical or theological studies
     An ECO pastor or able to be accepted as an ordained pastor in ECO

    Compensation for the assistant pastor includes salary and housing allowance, pension plan and health insurance reimbursement (QSEHRA). Total compensation is based on qualifications.

    Position reports to senior pastor/head of staff.
