The Student Minister will primarily be responsible for leading our ministry to middle school and high school students. This is a part-time position. The Student Minister plays an integral part in the leadership and planning of Oak Valley Baptist Church especially in the areas listed below:

General Responsibilities
• Give overall leadership to the OVBC student ministry.
• Lead the Student Ministry Team in planning and coordinating OVBC student ministry.
• Develop and lead student ministries that connects with the mission and vision of Oak Valley Baptist Church.
• Give leadership to the intentional discipleship of our students through group Bible studies, mentoring, etc.
• Enlist and train a team of volunteers for student ministry.
• Give leadership to student events designed for fellowship, outreach, ministry, and spiritual growth. This would include extended events such as summer camp, mission trip, and weekend retreats. Plus, short-term activities such as day trips, fellowships, service opportunities, etc.
• Be involved with students and families outside normal church activities—for example, school athletic events, music concerts, theatre presentations, etc., as schedule allows.
• Provide encouragement, training, and resources for parents of students.
• Prepare an annual budget for student ministries to be submitted to the Ops Ministry Team and approved by the ELT (Elder Leadership Team).
• Attend staff meetings and pertinent church ministry team meetings.
• Work with the ELT and other OVBC staff members to complete other duties as assigned to help accomplish the vision of the church.

Standard Hours/Expectations:
Salaried, approximately 20 hours per week*
• Sundays: 8:15 AM – 12:00 PM (Sunday Bible Study / Worship)
• Wednesdays: 6-8PM (Youth Group)
• Various monthly events/activities
• The student minister is encouraged to attend the weekly staff meeting (day and time TBD).
*Hours will often vary based on activities of the church and staff (see Responsibilities). In case of more hours needed (ie. retreats and camp) more hours may be given.

Requirements/Expectations:
1) Must be a member Oak Valley Baptist Church (or join at time of employment).
2) Be an active participant in the vision and strategy of OVBC throughout employment.
3) Must affirm the Baptist Faith and Message (2000).
4) Submit to a background check.
5) Must be a team player and willing to help with other ministries if the need arises.

Preferences:
Experience in student ministry
Seminary/Bible College education
