    Job Description

    OVERVIEW
    The Children & Family Life Pastor will oversee all aspects of Parkwood’s ministry to children from birth to grade 5, implementing the church’s vision and mission and developing the spiritual growth of children with the specific goal of producing disciples of Christ.

    QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
    • Ministry credentials with The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada or similar
    • Pastoral experience with a proven track record working with children
    • A deep, growing, genuine faith in Christ and Christ-like character
    • Excellent interpersonal and relational skills to build and maintain healthy relationships with children and their parents
    • Able to communicate effectively to both small and large groups

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Oversee and facilitate Sunday nursery and kids programs, midweek programs, Kids Week (VBS), March break and summer day camps, and childcare required for special events.
    • Recruit, train, oversee and encourage all children’s ministry department heads and assist in recruiting and training their ministry volunteers.
    • Oversee and coordinate curriculum, scheduling, planning and vision for all children’s ministry departments.
    • Intentionally partner with the Youth & Family Life Pastor to connect and foster community among families with children and youth.
    • Coordinate child dedication events and workshops and maintain all related records.
    • Create and implement dynamic strategies for discipleship, growth and outreach.
    • Ensure Plan to Protect policies and procedures are adhered to in all areas of children’s ministry.
    • Oversee administrative staff, interns and summer students.
    • Oversee special needs ministry to children and families.
    • Provide general pastoral care and support for children and their families.
    • Participate in weekly staff meetings and attend all general church services and functions.
    • Maintain office hours that achieve a balance between the expectations for a member of the church staff and the realities of an effective and productive ministry to students.

    COMPENSATION
    • Full time salary (determined based on qualifications/experience)
