Job Description
We welcome inquiries from anyone who feels passionate about our vision and church culture, and who could bring skill and experience to our ministry areas and/or our daily operations. We are a diverse, progressive, open and affirming community, passionate about following Jesus and committed to living out our faith in an authentic way in the world. We seek to be a community of hope and transformation with the conviction that by following Jesus, we can all become more kind, loving, life-giving people, working together to build a more just, equitable and inclusive world. We share Jesus’ vision for our world; what he called the Kingdom of God. We dare to dream of this heaven on earth, life before death, and hope for everyone, and are actively working to bring healing and reconciliation wherever we can.
● We are looking for someone who shares this vision, is passionate about following Jesus and wants to help others do the same.
● We are looking for someone who will bring creative, relational leadership, excitement about problem solving, and the ability to persevere through challenges.
● Our staff culture is teamwork, so we are seeking someone who is excited about working collaboratively within a flat authority structure, where we all pitch in and no task is beneath us, where we all listen and support one another, rather than forcing our own way.
● We are looking for someone who doesn’t feel they have life all worked out, who regards faith as a journey of progressive enlightenment over time, and who embraces others as fellow pilgrims from whom we learn and grow.
We are looking to become a more diverse staff, so we welcome inquiries and applications from everyone. Pastoral experience is preferable but not essential, but a proven track record of servant leadership in any field is required.
We are in a period of transition of pastoral responsibilities, so the exact definition of this role is currently fluid and will be determined together with the successful candidate. Leadership of ministry areas could include small groups, congregational care, worship, youth, and our work in Guatemala. Operational oversight could include areas like our property and facilities, communications, and finance. Management of other staff is expected, and we hope the candidate will also be able to contribute to speaking and teaching in our Sunday services.
