Rosewood Christian Reformed Church in Bellflower, Calif. is inviting qualified candidates to apply for a full-time team-pastor position. Rosewood is a 73-year-old church that reflects the diversity of its surrounding community in terms of culture, age, background, employment, and perspective.

The Pastor of Preaching and Next Generation is an ordained pastor position, and will complete the team of three ordained pastors at Rosewood. This pastor will have primary responsibility for the following areas:

• Preaching and Worship
• Next-Generation Ministries (youth, young adults, young families)
• Community Outreach

In addition, this pastor will share responsibility for congregational care, spiritual formation, discipleship, multicultural inclusion, and various other leadership and administrative tasks.

Qualifications include: A Master of Divinity degree, ordination, at least five years’ pastoral experience, and experience in preaching, cross-cultural ministry, next-generation ministry, community outreach, and team ministry.

This pastor will partner with the two current full-time pastors:

Pastor of Congregational Life and Ministry – This pastor has primary responsibility for pastoral care and coordination, congregational life and ministry, supervision of most staff, communication, multicultural inclusion, church administration, and council support. She shares responsibility for preaching, worship, and outreach.

Pastor of Hispanic Ministries – This pastor has primary responsibility for all aspects of the Spanish-language ministry, including preaching, worship, Bible studies, small groups, and pastoral care. He also directs the Food Pantry. He shares responsibility for spiritual formation, outreach, multicultural inclusion, and administrative tasks.

The Pastoral Team is blessed to partner with several part-time ministry and support staff, including the Director of Adult Discipleship, Director of Children’s Ministries, worship leader, youth ministry directors, and a committed support staff.

Areas of Primary Responsibility:
Preaching and Worship

Assume primary responsibility for preaching
Partner with the worship leader to plan the services
Plan sermon series and special worship events

Next Generation Ministries

Supervise and mentor youth group leaders.
Develop an effective, multi-faceted ministry with young adults.
Coordinate ministries to/with young families.

Outreach and Evangelism

Develop new and build on current outreach strategies.
Focus on community engagement and Global Ambassadors.
Equip and mentor members in practical evangelism.
Serve as pastoral liaison with the Ministering Deacons

The three pastors are accountable to the Governing Board and mutually accountable to one another.

Qualifications

Master of Divinity degree
Ordination in the Christian Reformed Church or sister denomination
Five years’ experience in ordained pastoral ministry.
Experience with a team pastorate, multicultural ministry, outreach, evangelism, preaching, and youth and young-adult ministry.
