South Barwon Christian Reformed Church is based in Geelong (Australia), seeking to employ a full-time ordained Pastor. We are a member of the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia.

South Barwon CRC has a strong ministry team approach including volunteer ministry leader, youth interns, an employed youth worker and an administration worker. These all work under the direction of the Pastor and our four elders. South Barwon also has a deacon team, a pastoral care team, programs for children and young people, and eight Growth Groups.

Key Activities
1) Preaching, Teaching and Worship
• Preach once most Sundays and oversee the preaching roster
• With the elders, oversee the teaching ministry of South Barwon, from children’s and youth ministries to Growth Groups
• Oversee arrangements of Sunday Worship
2) Leadership
• Develop, with the elders, vision, mission and strategy for the church
• Oversee, with the elders, the implementation of strategy through team leaders
• Oversee, with the elders, the legal responsibilities of the church
3) Mission
• Develop, with the elders, appropriate structures for ministry and mission
• Help lead and shape the evangelistic culture of South Barwon
• Oversee the work of key ministry leaders in evangelism
4) Training and Leadership Development
• Raise, train, equip and mentor ministry leaders, to multiply gospel ministry
• Oversee and run internship program
• Provide, with other leaders, training across the ministries in South Barwon so all those who serve are being equipped and encouraged in their work
5) Pastoral Care
• Help develop the pastoral care model in the church
• Help develop appropriate pastoral care structures that engage people’s gifts and motivate people to care for one another
• Participation in the Pastoral Care Team, visiting the congregation representatively
• Extend special care as required (weddings, funerals, illness, crises, etc)

Key Personal Capabilities and Qualities
• Godly character and good standing in the community
• Ability to preach and teach God’s word clearly, effectively, and engagingly in a contemporary way
• Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Church Council, working with its Vision, Mission, and Values
• Work well in a team ministry setting – training and developing others to grow ministries
• Build on an existing, but under-utilised outreach ministry by equipping and encouraging the church in its mission
• Provide and oversee pastoral care in the church
• Practice good personal devotional habits and have a love for Jesus and God’s Word
• Embrace an Elder-led church model and mutual accountability within this group
• Be able to be ordained in the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia – with a Bachelor degree or higher in Theology or Ministry
• Be aligned with the Reformed faith and with the ‘three forms of unity’
• Working with Children Check and appropriate Child Safe references
• Support the church’s commitment to our Child Safe program

Remuneration will be commensurate with experience whilst reflecting current Pastor award.
