    Job Description

    Position Summary:  This is a part-time pastoral position with responsibilities to direct a music ministry that is designed to encourage worshipers to know, love, and follow Jesus Christ. This pastoral role would average 15-20 hours per week, varying based upon needs. The compensation for this position is $16,068 annually.

    I.          Requirements

    A.        Spiritual

    i.         Meet the biblical qualifications of a pastor as seen in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.

    ii.        Be a growing Christian deepening his personal relationship with Jesus Christ and modeling this to others.

    iii.       Be called by the Lord to minister through music and worship.

    iv.       Be able to demonstrate gifts of administration, teaching, and encouragement.

    v.        Must be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, having scripture written on his heart.

    vi.       Agree with the Southern Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

    B.        Personal

    i.         Be dynamic, self-confident, creative, innovative, highly motivated, and able to work independently.

    ii.        Be a team player, goal oriented and teachable.

    iii.       Be compassionate and sensitive to the needs of those involved in music ministry, providing pastoral care as needed.

    iv.       Be able to meet the requirements of the FBC Guardian Program (including a police background check).

    v.        If married, the pastor must love and prioritize his family and shepherd his home before the church.

    C.         Professional

    i.         Prefer a college degree or equivalent experience in music, worship, or some other related field.

    ii.        Be cognizant of current worship/music trends and their application to the ministry.

    iii.       Have voluntary and/or professional experience in working with choirs, instrumentalists, and vocalists.

    iv.       Have a basic knowledge of sound boards and programs involved in worship technology.

    v.        Be able to delegate and have strong oral and written communication skills.

    II.        Responsibilities

    A.        General

    i.         Under the direction of the Senior Pastor and working alongside other staff members, establish, communicate, and implement a music ministry that is designed to encourage and disciple worshipers to know, love and follow Jesus Christ.

    ii.        Develop and maintain a relationship with families both within the church and in the community.

    B.        Specific

    i.         Establish a support team to provide encouragement and assistance to this ministry.

    ii.        Direct and supervise all aspects of the music ministry including, but not limited to congregational worship, choirs, vocalists, and instrumentalists.

    iii.       Seek out and encourage the development and involvement of persons whose talents can be expressed in worship.

    iv.       Has a passion for making disciples and desires to commit to church membership at First Baptist Charlestown and participate in worship, community, discipleship and mission alongside the church family.

    v.        Be responsible for communicating the needs, concerns, vision, and opportunities within the music ministry to the church body.

    vi.       Plan and implement at least two outreach worship events per year (i.e., Easter and Christmas)

    vii.     Coordinate the work of the media team regarding all audio and visual needs.

    viii.    Maintain a close working relationship with all other staff ministers.

    ix.       Work with the pastoral staff in coordinating/planning the weekly worship service.

    C.         Administrative

    i.         Prepare and administer an annual budget for the Music Ministry.

    ii.        Perform such other duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.
