Maranatha CRC in sunny Lethbridge, Alberta is excited to engage a new full-time pastor. We are seeking effective, knowledgeable spiritual leadership. We are an active, involved, mid-sized congregation on the west side of Lethbridge.

Job Description

The Pastor is a Spirit-equipped servant-leader, ordained in the CRC, committed to the Reformed faith, who:

· Nurtures our congregation towards maturity in faith, love, unity, Bible knowledge and hope

· Equips, inspires, models and leads us in ministry and outreach

· Is committed to continual personal development in skill, knowledge, discipleship

· Models healthy, balanced, relational and spiritual life

· Accepts supervision by Council in doctrine, life, and duties

· Helps us live out our Mission Statement, which is, “By grace Jesus saves and calls us to grow as his faithful followers, to love and serve others according to the Bible”

The following constitute the major responsibilities of the Pastor:

Worship

· Preach and teach from the Word of God with a Reformed perspective

· Plan and lead worship in conjunction with the Worship Committee and Worship Teams

· Promote an inclusive and participatory model of ministry and develop lay leaders

General

· Encourage and enable Elders and Deacons in their roles

· Partner with Council and congregation members to ensure pastoral care for all members and others who may join our fellowship (including visits to shut-ins and hospitalized).

· Challenge and encourage members to tend to the needs of the sick and needy in church and community

· Support and mentor committees and leaders including but not limited to; ministries to youth, seniors, worship and community relations

· Develop connections and relationships with congregation members

· Engage in Faith Formation practices

· Lead pre-marriage counseling, officiate weddings and funerals

· Provide Profession of Faith classes (either leading or training others to lead them)

Personal

· Ensure attention is paid to personal health (spiritual, mental, physical)

· Ensure continuing education
