    Job Description

    We are seeking a full time Associate & Youth Pastor to meet the needs of this growing congregation. The position is 80-85% Student Ministry and 15-20% Associate Pastor ministry. The salary is based upon the experience and the education of the candidate. The Associate Pastor serves to extend, strengthen and facilitate the ministry of Macedonia Baptist Church by sharing in the pastoral ministry of the church with additional specific responsibilities. The Associate & Youth Pastor will assist in the preaching ministry, visitation, and general promotional activities. He will have the major responsibility in the areas of Youth Ministry. He is to be a man of God called to serve the Lord by proclaiming the gospel to students. His teaching is to be Biblical and balanced. His life is to be filled with Christian character and integrity. His ministry is to be punctuated with love and concern for the youth of our church and community. His commitment is to the ministry of Macedonia Baptist Church and his ministry endeavors will demonstrate this commitment. He will oversee and direct the teaching and discipling of youth (grades 6-12) with the goal of equipping them to develop their own faith and grow toward mature Christian adulthood. This will be done relationally with both youth and their parents in a variety of ways.  He will plan and oversee the youth programs as well as ministry events for the families of the youth. The Associate & Youth pastor will be an active participant in the youth Sunday School class.  He will assist and encourage the youth teacher — understanding that Bible study through Sunday School is an integral part of the Youth Ministry . He will recruit, train, lead, and oversee adult leaders for this ministry. He will support parents in their primary responsibility to raise their children in the faith (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) thereby helping parents to succeed at translating their faith to their children. He will facilitate the creation of significant relationships between youth and adults in the church He will provide visibility to the youth program as well as work with the other ministry areas to find opportunities for the youth to be involved in the life of the church and also for the church to be involved in the lives of the youth. He will maintain a growing relationship with God, his family, the church body and community. He will maintain a good reputation with people inside the church body and in the community. He must be genuinely relational, able to creatively, positively and productively work with others, and be interested in communicating with and involving parents in the student ministry.

    The Associate & Youth Pastor will: •  Meet with Senior Pastor weekly •  Submit calendar of events quarterly •  Serve on Church Council and Scholarship Committee •  Make use of media as a ministry tool •  Keep regular office hours as further outlined              •  Prepare annual youth budget as requested by the Finance Team •  Be reachable, available and accountable to the Senior Pastor

    The Associate & Youth Pastor will: •  Have a heart to preach the gospel to students and to disciple them •  Coordinate and direct multi-age level worship program for students •  Develop a plan for making contacts and building relationships (outreach) •   Be available for spiritual counseling with students •  Actively support and participate in Vacation Bible School •  Recruit and encourage youth sponsors •  Plan and engage in conferences and mission trips for students •  Meet with other youth pastors for ideas and encouragement •  Develop focused teaching on evangelism •  Help disciple new Christians: teaching, mentoring, and training for service •  Integrate youth into the weekly church services He will assist the Senior Pastor in the coordination of any church activities and ministries as needed.

    General responsibilities include:     1.  Assume pastoral leadership in the absence of the Senior Pastor. 2.  Share the preaching ministry as requested by the Senior Pastor. 3.  Share with the Senior Pastor the visitation and pastoral care ministry of the church including the hospitalized, those in the nursing home, shut-ins, prospective members and the families of the youth leadership team as well as the students. 4.  Share with the Senior Pastor in the Bereavement Ministry serving families within the church and the community. 5.  Be available to the membership as friend and counselor. 6.  Coordinate a unified effort for communication of Church information to church staff, lay leaders, and members especially as it relates to Student Ministries. 7.  Attend all meetings as requested by the Senior Pastor. 8.  Perform other responsibilities as needed. 9.  Implement and carryout strategy for youth programs Macedonia Baptist Church, while independent and autonomous in governance, supports the work of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Cooperative Program.  The Associate & Youth Pastor will support the work of the Convention and subscribe to the Baptist Faith and Message as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention, and affirm the Statement of Faith, the Church Covenant, and the Constitution of Macedonia Baptist Church.
