Vision:
The Pastor/Director of Youth Ministry is responsible for training and discipling the youth of Hixson Presbyterian Church

Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Senior Pastor

Responsibilities:
Youth
● Work with the Session to Develop a strategy for shepherding and discipling youth to maturity
● Disciple the youth in the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith from a Reformed perspective through Bible studies, Sunday school, youth retreats, and other activities, so that each individual is grounded in the Word of God
● Cultivate in the youth a personal burden for effectively communicating Christ to nonbelievers
● Train the youth in the essentials of applying and defending their faith
● Cultivate an environment that leads to a genuine and wholesome fellowship with young people in the church and with other believers
● Provide opportunities for the youth to share and live out their faith in Christ through missions and service to others
● Research and recommend curriculum and resources for youth and parents
● Engage and organize parent’s involvement in youth ministry
● Integrate youth into the life of the church so they grow in their love and service of the church
● Provide counseling for the needs of the families and youth Administrative
● Develop a 7 year scope and sequence for youth curriculum
● Plan, promote, and oversee activities of the youth program
● Ensure plans and activities are well communicated and understood by the youth and their parents
● Coordinate youth activities with other ministries of the church
● Coordinate with the Children’s Ministry Director especially on 5th grade transition to youth
● Recruit and train volunteers to share in the youth ministry
● Train, supervise, and delegate responsibilities to the Middle School youth assistant
● Oversee safety and security processes for youth (e.g. background checks, communicating and implementing child safety                 policies, ect)
● Update the Youth Section of the HPC website
● Maintain all HPC youth social media accounts
● Learn and use HPC Church Management Software (Planning Center)
● Attend regular staff meetings
● Maintain a positive working relationship with staff
● Provide Pastoral oversight for the Children’s Ministry and the Day School
● Provide oversight for Young Adult Ministry

Other
● Desire to grow, learn, and develop as a child of God and shepherd of his people
● Model what it means to enjoy a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
● Participate in the life of the church
● Share in other pastoral responsibilities as needed and agreed upon after consultation with the Senior Pastor

Requirements
● Experience working in youth ministry
● Our preference is for the candidate to have an MDiv and be ordained or ordainable within the PCA. However, we are open to candidates with an undergraduate degree in ministry.
