    Job Overview

    The Music Leader’s primary responsibility is to help craft and lead the music portion of the weekly worship service. The Music Leader has a high calling and responsibility of shepherding the church in worshipping God through music and singing. By leading in this way, the congregation of God’s people will grow in their own relationship with the Lord and the church will be built up.


    • A clear testimony of a born-again life that has trusted in Jesus and is actively following Him, demonstrated in the leader’s life in grace, humility, and love under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
    • A strong desire and aptitude to lead and build the church in worship through singing.
    • Experience planning, preparing, and leading worship services (specific amount of experience may vary).
    • Skilled as an instrumentalist and vocalist, and comfortable in front of a large group of people.
    • Basic knowledge of sound, video, lighting, and church music software (e.g., ProPresenter and Planning Center).
    • Ability to lead and collaborate with a volunteer team of musicians and singers through gracious, honest, and encouraging planning, rehearsing, and communication.
    • Lives local to Cumming or Forsyth County and is able to engage in church life beyond Sunday morning.
    • Able to affirm Living Stones’ Statement of Faith.

    Job Description


    • Lead the music portion of the weekly worship service. This includes helping to move the service along from element to element with transitions of prayer and Scripture.
    • Alongside the Senior Pastor, plan the weekly worship services including songs that fit with the overall theme of the service which is determined by the preaching passage or special emphasis (i.e., Christmas, Easter, etc.).
    • Create a culture of love for Jesus by utilizing a mix of new, modern, and historical song choices which are biblical and Christ-exalting.
    • Lead the Sunday, pre-service rehearsal and warmup with vocalists, musicians, and tech team.
    • As needed, lead an efficient, well-organized, worship team rehearsal to work on music for the upcoming week(s), introduce new songs, and build unity.
    • Exhibit a personal commitment to maintain and develop the musical, vocal, or technical abilities he or she is being asked to apply at Living Stones.
    • Come to the Sunday service on-time and prepared.
    • Coordinate the scheduling of songs, musicians, vocalists needed for the weekly services through Planning Center with sufficient notice and care.
    • Maintain a Christ-like and God-honoring relationship with all members of the music team and those in attendance at Living Stones.
