    Job Description


    Our desire for the Student/Families pastor is to have the heart to equip parents, teens, and children through the local church here at SCC. We want our candidate to feel that they are being called, and led by God to serve this area within our church and community.

    The candidate should have a passion and desire for the spiritual health of the whole family. We desire a faithful ministry that focuses on discipling families by equipping parents and teaching the children/teens in innovative ways. We are looking for someone with a gift for teaching, and who is passionate about building relationships with families within the church and our local community.

    The candidate will be required to build a team, which includes recruitment, development training, and support of volunteers to help sustain and grow the ministry.

    In addition, we want our candidate to be prepared to teach and preach when the occasion calls for it.


    This is a full-time position working at minimum 40 hours/week.  The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work to be performed and all work must additionally comply with the SCC Policy and Procedure Manual:

    • Coordinate ministry to students through age-appropriate methods which establish, guide, and nurture a solid ongoing biblical foundation in a holistic approach to family ministry by integrating both parents and their students in ministry. To equip not only the students, but also their families in developing the appropriate Christian worldview, lifestyle and ever growing and deepening personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
    • Work alongside our children’s ministry director and help provide oversight/guidance (Birth – Fifth grade, year-round for children’s ministry programming)
    • Serve in Student Ministry with year-round programming.
    • Engage, and equipping parents from the Church in the Family Ministry.
    • Plan, execute, and attend regular Family Ministry Events.
    • Plan, execute, and attend summer camp as well as annual conferences for middle & high school students (i.e.. Christ In Youth Move conference summer).
    • Build relationships with the Children, Teens, and Parents both inside and outside of the church, through events, outreach, small groups, etc.
    • Develop and lead programs according to the vision for student and family ministry.
    • Recruit and train volunteer leaders to fulfill the desire for effective family ministry.
    • Maintain open communication with volunteer team, parents, and SCC leadership.
    • Manage and have oversight of the student ministry budget.
    • Involve children & teens in the ministry of the church by supporting and participating in church mission trips, worship services, and opportunities to serve.
    • Attend scheduled weekly staff meetings.
    • Attend monthly leadership meetings, providing regular updates to Elders of goals, accomplishments (celebrating the wins), prayers, and praises.
    • Actively seek ways to get parents involved in the Family Ministry program.


    • Has completed ministry/seminary degree (at the elder’s discretion the minister can be in the process of obtaining a degree)
    • Background in education or FAMILY ministry is preferred (at the elder’s discretion, successful past work experience may be considered in lieu of some educational requirements)
    • Professional / practical experience leading teams / ministering to families / and developing programs.


    • Passion and calling for student and family ministry.
    • A positive, teachable, can-do attitude. Excited about working in a team environment with other staff and volunteers.
    • Have a working knowledge of computers; using software such as ProPresenter, Google Docs, Word, Excel; basic sound & video tech abilities.
    • Maturity to handle confidential information with care.
    • Self-starter – highly motivated.
    • Someone who can recruit, lead and inspire others to follow them.


    • Faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, as well as a commitment to SCC’s vision, mission, core values and agreeance with the statement of faith.
    • SCC must be your and your family’s home church and consider its senior pastor your senior pastor.
    • Maintain a high level of excellence and work diligently for the Lord.
    • Self-motivated as a steward of the pastoral ministry of SCC.
    • Commitment to ongoing personal, spiritual and professional growth.
    • Must complete a background check. The check must be every 2 years thereafter.
    • Time requirement: 40+ hours per week.

    Job Benefits:

    Salary Administration

    • Employees will be paid every other week.

    Paid Vacation

    • Paid vacation benefits are available for employees who work 32 hours or more weekly.  See the current SCC Policy and Procedure Handbook for specific details.

    • Employees may be given permission to be absent from work on a short-term basis under certain circumstances.  See the current SCC Policy and Procedure Handbook for specific details.


    • SCC does not currently provide healthcare benefits.
