    Job Description

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to serve as our full-time Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church – Lincolnton. The ideal candidate will be devoted to leading our congregation through engaging teaching, impactful preaching, compassionate pastoral care, effective leadership, and active community engagement. They should possess strong theological grounding, exceptional communication skills, and a heart for both traditional and contemporary forms of ministry. This role requires a commitment to nurturing spiritual growth, fostering community relationships, and advancing our mission of sharing the love of Christ.

    Responsibilities:    

    Preaching:

    −       Deliver relatable and relevant to all ages, applicable sermons that draw from scripture and address current issues.

    −       Preach from the Bible with enthusiasm, clarity, and conviction.

    −       Incorporate expository, topical, and thematic preaching methods to reach a diverse congregation.

    −       Present salvation messages and apply multiple pieces of scripture in sermons.

    −       Support both traditional and contemporary worship services, serving the needs of all members.

    Teaching:

    −       Lead Wednesday night programs, facilitating small groups, and conducting thorough Bible studies.

    −       Encourage both formal and informal teaching settings, including discipleship over meals, Bible book studies, and church-wide mission trips.

    −       Engage with different age groups regularly, visiting Sunday Schools and promoting cross-generational Bible study.

    −       Arrange Bible studies, seminars, and other discipleship opportunities to promote growth.

    −       Foster an open-discussion teaching environment that encourages questions and discussion.

    Pastoral Care:

    −       Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and love for all members of the congregation.

    −       Provide counseling, encouragement, and support to individuals and families in times of need.

    −       Visit the sick, shut-in, and bereaved members, offering comfort and prayer.

    −       Be available to the entire church body, actively listening and responding to their needs.

    −       Work closely with deacons and other ministry leaders to ensure comprehensive pastoral care.

    Leadership:

    −       Administer and lead the church staff with efficiency and grace.

    −       Demonstrate strong leadership skills while remaining open to input from the congregation.

    −       Foster a culture of servant leadership, leading by example and empowering others to serve.

    −       Build connections with other ministers and churches in the area, promoting collaboration and unity.

    −       Provide vision and direction for the church’s spiritual growth and community engagement initiatives.

    Community Engagement:

    −       Take an active role in community organizations and events, representing the church’s mission and values.

    −       Participate in outreach efforts to share the gospel and meet the needs of the community.

    −       Be relational both within and outside the congregation, engaging in various church events and ministries.

    −       Collaborate with local pastors and organizations to support community improvement and local Christian ministries.

    Minimum Qualifications:     

    −       Master’s degree with theological training from an accredited seminary.

    −       5-15 years of experience in pastoral ministry, with a strong emphasis on teaching and preaching.

    −       A deep understanding of Baptist doctrine and a commitment to biblical principles.

    −       Strong communication skills with the ability to teach and preach effectively.

    −       Compassionate, empathetic, and caring attitude toward all members of the congregation.

    −       Demonstrated leadership abilities, including administrative skills and the ability to mentor staff.

    −       Mission-minded with a heart for outreach and evangelism.

    −       Must align with the beliefs and values of our church community.
