    Job Description

    Character – The Senior Pastor of St. John’s (Burry’s) Church will –
    1. Demonstrate a clear testimony of faith and a passionate devotion to Christ and His Church
    2. Live out and teach a lifestyle of adherence to Biblical standards of morality, ethics and fruit of the Spirit.
    3. Accomplish his responsibilities as a shepherd of God’s flock with a spirit of humility, compassion, wisdom, honesty, integrity and unity as a servant leader.
    4. Possess strong interpersonal skills, being able to relate to all age groups and provide leadership and development of our ministry team.

    Qualifications – The Senior Pastor of St. John’s (Burry’s) Church will –
    1. Be able to minister in accordance to the St. John’s (Burry’s) Church Constitution.
    2. Possess an MDiv or equivalent from a conservative, accredited seminary
    3. Have significant pastoral and preaching experience (5 years minimum preferred).
    4. Possess the ability to preach clear, engaging, God honoring, Gospel-centered Biblical sermons, with relevant application to all age groups.
    5. Have a proven track record of committed, compassionate and effective pastoral oversight.
    6. Be competent in administrative, managerial and technological skills.

    Responsibilities – The Senior Pastor of St. John’s (Burry’s) Church will –
    1. Provide vision, direction and spiritual development of church leaders and congregants.
    2. Preach God’s Word at worship services and special events of the church including weddings and funerals
    3. Model and encourage prayer, actively engaging in the lives of the flock, to pray for health, spiritual well being and special circumstances.
    4. Teach the scriptures in large and small group settings as part of the church’s ministry of edification and evangelism.
    5. Administer the Holy Sacraments in conformity to the Holy Scriptures and Burry’s standards and traditions.
    6. Provide personal and premarital counseling as required
    7. Be a spiritual advisor and trainer to Council and committees
    8. Visit members, shut-ins and the sick
    9. Train youth and potential new members using the Heidelberg Catechism
