- Job Requirements:
● Must wholeheartedly agree with the NHBC Articles of Faith, Church Covenant, and the NHBC Constitution and By-Laws. The NHBC Articles of Faith can be viewed online at
● A man of good standing, preferably married and between the ages of 30 and 60. Prior experience in ministry required. Prior experience in Pastoral ministry preferred, ideally in roles that involved preaching and supervision of multiple staff members.
● Should possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Pastoral/Biblical Studies from an accredited Bible college or seminary. A Master’s degree in Biblical studies/theology is preferred, but not required. A willingness to seek a Masters-level or higher degree from an accredited Bible college or seminary is a plus. Prior pastoral experience with a proven track record may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
● Ordained and licensed Baptist minister (If not ordained, must be ordained within 6 months of hire date).
● Become a constitutional member and be committed to the ministry of NHBC.

SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATIONS:
● A deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ as evidenced in daily life and exhibiting the character qualities of an overseer as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter: 5:1-4.
● A clear, personal sense of calling from God to Ministry (1 Timothy 4:6-16).
● A man of established and true character, qualified to preach and teach the Word of God, exhibiting personal qualities that are of the highest integrity and unquestionable honesty.
● Earnestly seeks God’s will above all other possible motivations.
● Excellent communicator; visionary in leadership including supervision and mentoring of staff.
● Endorses and supports the existing staff and effectively communicates and executes the mission of NHBC.
● Possesses a spirit of cooperation and fellowship within the church body. Shows self-awareness and humility in seeking advice from others when appropriate.

● Commit to a weekly schedule that may include both remote work and office hours.RESPONSIBILITIES:
● PREACHING: Value the importance of the weekly sermon. Seek to discern God’s message for the congregation. Spend significant time and effort using spiritual and professional skills to develop and deliver messages that are both scriptural and relevant. Focus primarily on expository preaching, while using topical sermons sparingly and when appropriate for the spiritual needs of the congregation. As with expository sermons, topical sermons should be well thought, set within the Biblical context of scripture, and theologically sound. Communicate with love, wisdom, and conviction the truth of the Gospel and illuminating the Word of God.
● SERVICE PLANNING: Coordinate with worship leader and tech team in the planning and execution of regular, weekly services as well as special services.
● VISION-CASTING: Seek God’s direction and develop His vision for our church in a way that maximizes the gifts and resources available. Seek to find new methods and additional resources to accomplish God’s plan for our church.
● GREAT COMMISSION: Lead the congregation to follow the Great Commission to reach the lost and the unchurched, fostering biblical, emotional, social, and spiritual growth.
● STAFF LEADERSHIP/MENTORSHIP: Develop and manage a professional pastoral staff for successful ministry. Serve as direct supervisor for the 4-person paid support staff. Provide ongoing leadership development and spiritual oversight of church staff. Be personally involved in selection, supervision, goal-setting, and evaluation of staff members as needed. This will include both paid and volunteer positions (Directors, Office Staff, Worship Leaders, Family Ministry, Youth/Children’s Ministry and custodians.) Foster an atmosphere and attitude of teamwork and accountability to support the church’s mission. There will be an expectation for regular staff meetings led by the Senior Pastor.
● COOPERATION: Exhibit strong diplomatic skills and lead within the context of a congregational style of church governance and be accountable to the deacons/leadership team. Be an excellent recruiter of gifted leaders and a strong encourager to all. Work to accomplish a vision for the church with respect for and in cooperation with lay leaders and committees.
● MISSIONS: Enthusiastically and lovingly support and engage with NHBC’s domestic and foreign missionaries. Maintain and grow NHBC’s ministry partnerships with Ethnos 360 and Mission University. Seek out and promote opportunities for our congregation to be exposed to and participate in foreign and domestic mission work through guest missionary speakers, missions trips, missions conferences, etc.
● CONGREGATIONAL LEADERSHIP: Exhibit a passion for ministry. Lead by example. Work shoulder-to-shoulder with lay leaders and volunteers in the ministries of the church.
● OUTREACH/EVANGELISM/SOUL-WINNING: Actively lead, promote, and engage in community outreach and evangelism efforts. Support the outreach partnership between NHBC and CarePortal while seeking out additional innovative and effective opportunities to meet the needs of our community.
● DISCIPLESHIP: Lead and promote church-wide discipleship programs for new believers and believers who are still “young” in their faith. Facilitate and provide opportunities for mature believers to use their gifts to mentor and disciple new/young believers.
● RELATIONAL: Work with and relate to staff, deacons, leadership team, lay leaders, volunteers and the congregation as a whole. Show evidence of love for people in the congregation while reaching out, developing relationships, and have compassion for the triumphs and struggles in their lives.
● PRAYER: Seek and promote prayer as a priority, both personally and in the life of the church.
● PASTORAL CARE: Work to strengthen the spiritual health and well-being of the congregation. Providing counseling, performing weddings and funerals, and giving pastoral care to the sick, elderly, and bereaved by conducting regular in-home (when appropriate), hospital, nursing home, and outpatient visits.
● EVALUATION/DEVELOPMENT: Continually evaluate effectiveness of programs and propose creative ideas for improvement. Offer overall vision to develop and grow ministry. Spend time in personal study and research in order to expand knowledge and awareness of various tools and methods of relevant and effective outreach and ministry.
● BUDGETARY MATTERS: Participate in the planning of the church budget in cooperation with the deacons and leadership team in preparation for congregational approval.
● COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Represent NHBC in civic groups and matters. Meeting and establishing relationships with local leaders in business, government, and education.
