The Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Knoxville, TN is seeking to hire an enthusiastic individual to assist with Christian Education programming and events for birth through 5^th grade. Duties include, but are not limited to, preparing curriculum, leading children in worship and lessons and following safety protocols.

Responsibilities:

• Reports to and works closely with the Rector and Children’s Ministry Director
• Attend weekly staff meeting
• Prepare materials and classrooms for Sunday lessons and special events
• Lead Sunday School and Children’s Church
• Assist and/or lead special events which take place monthly or seasonally such as Date Night, Family Friday, Toddler Tuesday, childcare during church events, Christmas pageant, etc.
• Support Nursery Staff and Children’s Ministry volunteers in their roles as needed
• Ensure the implementation of Safe Church, the Episcopal church’s background check and safety education program.
• Check rooms for cleanliness and organization
• Assist with Children’s Ministry needs as they arise.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with children in a church setting preferred
• Knowledge of the Episcopal Church and its theology
• Must complete background check prior to employment
• Must complete Safe Church Training upon employment
• A team player who works well with others.
