    Job Description

    The Associate Director of Student Ministry will work closely with the Family Ministry Director and the Student Ministry Leadership Team to develop and implement strategies to make mature disciples of Jesus Christ who love God above all else and who sacrificially love others. This is a full-time position and requires night and weekend hours.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Initiate, plan, and oversee programs and activities that empower, encourage, and equip volunteers, staff, and the congregation to serve Christ according to the mission and vision of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church.
    • Communicate in an effective and timely manner with staff members, leadership, volunteers, and ministries.
    • Report to the Family Ministry Director and execute the vision and direction provided by the Senior Pastor.
    • Assist the leadership of Cornerstone to grow in their understanding and ability to minister to youth and their families.
    • Attend staff meetings, regular worship services, and special events/services.

    Established Student Ministry Responsibilities

    The new Associate Student Ministry Director will be stepping into an established youth ministry with duties that should be cultivated and expanded.

    • Develop, lead, and direct all middle school ministry (called UTX – Under the Cross) activities at Cornerstone including, but not limited to, youth group, youth activities (e.g. parties, service trips, retreats, outreach), Sunday School, youth mission trips, Reality Factor (annual fall presbytery youth retreat), and Victory Jam (summer retreat)
    • Provide biblical instruction, teaching, and discipleship at regular meetings of UTX and other events as required within the church and community.
    • Pursue and lead students with intentionality to cultivate meaningful personal relationships through one-on-one and group meetings including regular lunch/dinner appointments, home visits, attendance at extracurricular activities, Bible studies, retreats, and other events
    • Pursue students through ongoing, consistent, direct contact via various communication platforms (text, email, DM, etc). In short, you will be where students are, walking alongside them in life and in evangelism to their unbelieving friends.
    • Assist the Family Ministry Director to recruit, train and empower a team of volunteers to disciple the youth, assist in planning and leading youth group gatherings, and to walk with students outside of  the regular program.
    • Co-labor with parents of youth and volunteers in shepherding teens on their spiritual journey.
    • Assist the Family Ministry Director with training and supervising of summer interns
    • Collaborate with the Family Ministry Director to create an annual student ministry calendar
    • Manage the administrative tasks with a particular focus on events outside of the regular week-to-week programs of youth ministry (ex. amusement park trip, movie nights, laser tag, etc.). This involves planning various events, delegating responsibilities for preparation and execution to other team members and students, and overseeing registration for said events.
    • Work with the Family Ministry Director in leading our high school ministry (called Revolution), with the goal of transitioning to full responsibility of the high school ministry

    A passionate love for Jesus Christ demonstrated through faith and obedience to God’s Word. A passionate desire to walk alongside middle school and high school students, caring for them and pointing them to the hope we have in Jesus. Experience working with students in a ministry setting. Bachelor’s Degree. Possess knowledge of Reformed theology with the ability to teach and to lead the youth to a deeper understanding for the beliefs of our denomination. Exhibits a teachable spirit and maintains healthy interpersonal relationships. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Competent administrative skills to plan and run the ministry program. Ability to utilize technology relevant to this position such as MS Word, email, MS PowerPoint, social media, etc. Experience in leading and working with others. Gifted in teaching and building relationships with students. Must be willing to work flexible hours as needed. Must be or become a member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. Must submit to a comprehensive background check.
