Supervisor: Family Ministries Pastor
Direct Reports: Assistant Kids Ministries Director, Nursery Coordinator, MomCo Coordinator
Schedule: Sunday – Thursday (ordinarily)
Environment: Non-remote position, placing a high value on in-person community, collaboration and communication.
Teams: Alignment Team, Family Ministry Session Team, other Teams as needed.

Overview: The Kids Ministries Director is responsible for overseeing and leading the Kids Ministry Team to create high energy environments of trust, relationship, and faith development for children, leaders, and parents. The
Kids Ministries Director executes the vision of First Pres Kids Ministries, making First Pres a great place to raise kids in the Lord. This role especially focuses on recruiting, developing, and deploying passionate volunteer leaders, encouraging and resourcing parents, and managing Kids Ministries staff, all to the end of helping children grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Education Requirements:
● Bachelor of Arts from an accredited college/university required. Graduate degree emphasizing family, youth or children’s ministry desired.
● Minimum of three years’ experience in full-time kids or family ministry.
● Proven experience recruiting, developing, and deploying volunteer teams in a church ministry or non-profit context.
● Experience supervising paid staff, contract employees, interns, etc.
● Experience with children’s Christian curriculum in terms of evaluating, adapting and writing.
● Proven experience discipling individuals and shepherding groups.
● Proven experience balancing a workload consisting of long-range projects, ongoing programs, and emergency situations.
● Proven experience developing and stewarding a ministry strategy to children and their families.

● Expertise in child development and a commitment to professional development, especially as it pertains to children and families.
● Ability to recruit, train, inspire, and mobilize volunteer leaders and church staff.
● Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with various constituencies (children, parents, volunteers, grandparents, broader church, public, colleagues, etc.)
● The ability to coordinate staff and volunteer teams to execute kids ministries events.
● Ability to relate well with children and their families.

Position Requirements:
● Lead the Kids Ministries Team (staff and volunteers) in the development of initiatives, events, and programs to support First Pres’ ministry to children and their families. Including weekly programs, camps, service projects, small group Bible studies, and outreach efforts.
● Ensure the training of staff and lay leaders in risk management, crisis response, church protocol, group leadership skills, discipleship, specific activity skills, and evangelism.
● In partnership with other Family Ministries staff, work to facilitate healthy transitions for kids from nursery into young adulthood.
● Ensure that all children of the church are accurately identified and documented in the church management system (ROCK), for the purpose of being able to offer consistent care and support.
● Function as the primary point of contact for children and their families in times of crisis and difficulty.
● With the Family Ministries Pastor, develop and implement a strategy for outreach to families in our community, working to assist them along the Discipleship Compass.
● Develop relationships with other children’s workers in the community (church leaders, parachurch leaders, government advocates) for the purpose of better resourcing parents, equipping volunteers and staff, caring for children, and helping kids meet and follow Jesus.
● Participate in Alignment Team, Family Ministries Session Team, Staff Chapel and other appropriate meetings for collaboration and coordination.
● Occasionally assist in leading corporate worship services.
● Efficiently carry out all administrative duties of the position, including prompt response to correspondence, voice mail and email.

Other duties as requested by the Lead Pastor, Executive Pastor or Family Ministries Pastor as applicable to the position or to advance the ministry of First Pres.
