Job Description
Position Summary: We seek a passionate and dynamic Next-Gen director to oversee our children and youth ministries (birth through 12th grade).
The ideal candidate will have a deep personal faith, strong leadership skills, a connection to students, and a commitment to Christian discipleship of the next generation.
This role requires both leadership and hands-on ministry. It focuses on team development, engaging ministry experiences, and partnering with parents and volunteers to nurture faith in young people.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ministry Oversight: Lead children’s and youth ministries, develop strategic plans to engage and grow in numbers and discipleship and manage weekly services and events.
• Volunteer Leadership: Recruit, train, and support volunteers, equipping them to lead, teach, and invest in students’ lives.
• Family and Community Engagement: Engage with parents, build community connections and plan activities that foster relationships within and outside the church.
• Teaching and Discipleship: Serve as the primary teacher for a ministry where needed and assist in discipling students, parents, and families.
• Event Planning: Organize and lead annual events like camps, retreats, VBS, and mission trips.
• Leadership and Administration: Manage the ministry budget, participate in staff meetings, and communicate ministry progress to church leadership and the congregation.
Qualifications:
• Spiritual Maturity: A committed follower of Christ with a deep personal faith.
• Beliefs: Discipleship through a Wesleyan perspective and a desire to see our children and youth deepen their commitment to Christ through a lifestyle of holiness. Lake Houston Methodist is a Global Methodist Church Congregation.
• Experience: 2-5 years of full-time ministry experience in children’s or youth ministry preferred.
• Leadership: Proven ability to build and lead teams, develop leaders, and manage ministry operations.
• Communication: Dynamic and creative in teaching biblical truths and engaging with the community.
• Technologically Proficient: Comfortable with social media and using technology for ministry outreach.

Schedule:
Full-time position, typically 40-50 hours per week, including some evenings, weekends, and weekly summer trips/retreats.
