    Job Description

    Purpose: The director is charged with the spiritual development and education of the congregation’s children, youth, and adults. The successful candidate will have a passion for this work and an ability to share their personal faith in Jesus Christ with members of all ages, supporting faith formation and nurturing Christian discipleship. The director will explore and implement new engagement opportunities for members and the community.

    Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
    Spiritual Formation
    a) Teach adult Sunday school classes, plan and acquire the yearly curricula.
    b) Introduce formative educational programs for children, youth, and adults.
    c) Assist with the education and development of Christian education interns.
    d) Regularly participate in worship services and assist with weddings, funerals and special events as needed.
    e) Attend weekly staff and worship meetings and monthly Session meetings.
    f)  Lead the Spiritual Formation Committee and attend monthly meetings.
    g) Plan retreats, field trips, and special events throughout the year.
    h) Oversee the efforts of the ad-hoc anti-racism committee.
    i)  Plan and direct Vacation Bible School for children and adults.

    Contemporary Development
    a) Design programs and format to digitally engage believers and non-believers in Christian conversations.
    b) Explore opportunities for mid-week congregational engagement through video and/or live platforms.
    c) Introduce new media platforms and avenues for engaging multicultural, gen x, gen y, and millennial demographic.

    Congregational Care
    a) Build relationships among congregational groups, volunteers, and individuals.
    b) Participate in hospital and home visitation schedule as requested by the pastor.

    Qualifications:
    • MAPT, MATS or MDIV
    • Two or more years of experience teaching Christian Education programs
    • Sound knowledge of Reformed theology
    • Passion for serving in the local church alongside staff and volunteers

    Compensation: Part-time; 20-25 hours per week; primarily Sunday through Thursday. Work
    responsibilities will include some evening and weekend hours based upon the church’s calendar and needs throughout the year. The director will report to the head of staff. Compensation will be based on experience.

    Child Protection: A criminal background check must be passed before employment.
    Eastminster requires regular sexual misconduct boundaries training and periodic background
    checks for all staff.
