General Expectations:
The senior Pastor shall lead the congregation fulfilling its mission of making disciples who are growing in their passion to know Christ, serve His church and reach out with His gospel of redemption. He is expected to serve the church by providing a balanced ministry in these areas so as to enable the church to grow in spiritual vitality and ministry.

Key Responsibilities:
Spiritual Leadership/Discipleship
Challenge and inspire the congregation through regular preaching

Work with and motivate the church leadership to develop, implement and cohesively carry out the church’s vision and goals

Identify and develop outreach opportunities within the community

Lead Sunday morning worship services

Encourage people to participate in service within the church family and within the community

Provide pastoral counselling in times of crisis and minister to the sick, the dying and the bereaved while maintaining confidentiality

Facilitate the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper

Conduct dedications, weddings and funerals providing appropriate preparation and support

Administration
Oversee staff and ministry team leaders

Establish an effective time schedule and report regularly to the board

Support and promote North American Baptist and Manitoba Baptist Association ministries including Waters Edge Bible Camp

Model a Christian lifestyle

Model the value of prayer

Be comfortable working with a culturally diverse congregation and living within a culturally diverse community

Proficient in public speaking

Build relationships within our community by involvement in community organizations and ministries

Encourage intergenerational fellowship within the church

Education/Qualifications
Master of Divinity or related Masters degree is preferred. Continuing education within this field of studies may be considered.

Other post-secondary education in a related field or a combination of education and experience in full-time ministry may also be considered. 5 years of experience in full time ministry is preferred.
