    Job Description

    Objectives:  This person is responsible for evangelizing young families and young adults to further Second Baptist Church’s vision of reaching people for Christ and building relationships with the lost in within our community.  This Associate Pastor will supervise and grow the young family and young adult programs; supervise the children and youth departments; and fulfill pastoral duties as indicated by the Senior Pastor and the needs of the church.

    Qualifications:

    ·       Bachelor’s degree – Master of Divinity preferred

    ·       Minimum of five years of experience in ministry preferred

    ·       Proficiency in the use of technology to promote and enrich programming

    ·       Understanding of and willingness to serve within the doctrinal commitments of the church and a belief that the Bible is the infallible, inerrant Word of God

    ·       Have a deep passion for the lost and unchurched

    ·       Strong leadership, organizational, administrative, communication, counseling and motivational skills

    ·       Ability to work with individuals of various ethnicities and social-economic backgrounds

    ·       Develop, promote and lead a comprehensive, evangelistic ministry for young families and young adults

    ·       Recruit young adults and young families, including youth and children, to Second Baptist Church

    ·       Train leaders and teachers to work with children, youth, young adults and young families

    ·       Develop strategies and curriculum to incorporate into the Sunday School programs as part of the overall plan for children, youth, young adults and young families.

    ·       Plan, supervise and promote group activities for young adults, young families, youth and children, individually and collectively

    ·       Provide tools to young parents to help them teach their children Christian principles

    ·       Model spirituality, vitality, and accountability

    ·       Attend staff meeting and report at business meetings on the young family and young adult ministry activities

    ·       Prepare and implement a budget for this ministry

    ·       Conduct worship services as needed

    ·       Be involved in the overall programs of the church as time permits
