As we seek an Associate Pastor of Student Ministries, we continue to reach our students through a growing and thriving children’s ministry and youth ministry. We have seen significant growth in both in the last few months. We have a wholehearted group of volunteers eagerly helping and facilitating growth of Jesus Christ in our students. Our students play an integral role in Sunday morning worship services while learning about giving to the Lord, through our weekly children’s offering. This offering goes to specifically to missions (Annie Armstrong, Lottie Moon, Operation Christmas Child, etc.) We believe in an integrated approach to student ministries, meaning our students are not outside of the church family, but rather they are an integral part of our current and future ministries. Both ministries are providing summer camp opportunities for any who wish to attend and encourage all ages to serve each other in Christ’s love.

Qualifications for Associate Pastor of Student Ministries and Outreach

1. Embodies the qualities of a Pastor as outlined in 1Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9 and 1 Peter 5:1-4.

2. Exemplifies the life of a fully committed disciple of Christ.

3. Faithful to Biblical doctrine and the inerrancy of God’s Word.

4. Spiritual leader grounded in faith of our Lord Jesus Christ.

5. Highly relational with strong people skills.

6. Seeks the Holy Spirit in prayer and His Word for inspiration.

7. Effective communicator and God inspired preacher God’s Word.

8. Successful leadership skills in personnel, financial, and change management.

9. Organized, self-motivated, and driven to see students deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Education and Experience

Preferably, ordained as a minister of the Gospel of Christ by an SBC affiliated church.

Preferably, holds an undergraduate degree and a Master of Divinity or comparable graduate degree from a Southern Baptist theological seminary, or an accredited, conservative, evangelical institution.

Preferably, 2+ years of pastoral experience in a local church as a children’s, youth or associate pastor with knowledge of multi-staff, multi-generational and multi-campus ministries.

Responsibilities

Leadership: Lead youth members in the development of clear plans of action for any short- or long-term visions for growth, evangelical endeavors, missions either local or foreign. Must be organized and motivated.

Preaching/Teaching: Prepare and dynamically deliver Biblically based sermons for youth worship services (to include on-line services and podcasts) that are relevant to their current spiritual needs.

Ministry/Discipleship: Provide leadership in developing discipleship ministries in Gateway Student Ministries. Promote a culture of service in the youth group that will encourage and give students the desire to serve in church, local and state/national/international levels. Provide pastoral care and counseling; minister to and encourage ministries for the sick and those in need.

Administration: Provide direct supervision to the church’s youth ministry. And provide oversight to Gateway kids ministry. Our children’s ministry has wonderful directors already in place, this candidate will provide oversight of these four individuals who comprise the children’s ministry team.
