Job Description
Job Summary: The Youth and Family Pastor is responsible for fostering the spiritual growth, community involvement, and overall well-being of youth and their families within the church congregation. This role involves planning, organizing, and implementing various programs, events, and initiatives tailored to engage and support young people while also providing guidance and support to their families.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Youth Ministry:
• Develop and lead youth group activities, gatherings, and events.
• Teach and facilitate age-appropriate Bible studies and discussions.
• Mentor and provide spiritual counseling to youth members.
• Organize mission trips, retreats, and other opportunities for youth to grow in their faith.
2. Family Ministry:
• Provide guidance, counseling, and support to families within the congregation.
• Offer resources and programs to help families strengthen their faith and relationships.
• Foster fellowship mutual support among families.
3. Discipleship:
• Promote spiritual growth and discipleship among youth and their families.
• Encourage active participation in church worship, study, and service.
• Equip and empower youth and families to deepen their relationship with God.
4. Outreach and Evangelism:
• Develop strategies to reach out to youth and families in the local community.
• Collaborate with church leadership in evangelistic efforts.
• Engage in community service and partnership initiatives.
5. Administration:
• Manage the youth and family ministry budget and resources.
• Maintain accurate records of youth and family participation and engagement.
• Communicate effectively with parents and church leadership.
6. Collaboration:
• Work closely with the Senior Pastor, Session, church staff, and volunteers.
• Coordinate with other ministry leaders to align efforts and support the overall mission of the church.
7. Professional Development:
• Stay informed about current trends, resources, and best practices in youth and family ministry.
• Attend training, conferences, and continuing education opportunities.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated commitment to Jesus Christ and adherence to the doctrinal statements of the PCA.
• A Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Ordained in the PCA, or pursuing ordination.
• Previous experience in youth and family ministry within a church context.
• Excellent communication, counseling, and teaching skills.
• Leadership and organizational abilities.
• A heart for young people and families, with a desire to see them grow in faith.
Accountability: The position is hired by the Session and reports to the Senior Pastor for ongoing direction.
