Job Description

Position Description:
As a part of the pastoral team at CPC, the Associate Pastor will be responsible for engaging and encouraging the congregation in the Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations. This position will focus on congregational care and transformation through the oversight and encouragement of Deacons, small groups, and family ministries. Preach and teach as assigned in cooperation with the Senior Pastor.


Reports to the Senior Pastor.

Live as a member of the body of CPC.

Primary Responsibilities:

In conjunction with Sr. Pastor, develop and implement programs for outreach and discipleship to include but not limited to the following:

      o Discipleship groups/study groups /outreach programs.

      o Training group leaders.

Develop and grow an intercultural young adult ministry, along with providing support to 
youth, children’s, and family ministries.

Oversee general congregational care.
      o Provide support, direction, and encouragement to Deacons.

      o Offer pastoral care for the elderly, sick, and needy.

      o Encourage, disciple, and equip others to reach out to needs within the congregation.

Encourage mission opportunities for the congregation, of all ages, including opportunities to visit CPC supported missionaries when possible.
      o Preach and teach in cooperation with the Senior Pastor.

      o Teach, encourage, and help to develop the prayer life of the congregation including CPC supported missionaries.

Related Responsibilities:

Participate in CPC staff meetings.

Participate in monthly Session and Deacons meetings.

Maintain professional development through outside study, seminar attendance and/or 
association relationships as appropriate to fulfilling the position.

Pastoral responsibilities as requested by Senior Pastor.

Master of Divinity

EPC ordained or working toward ordination in EPC.

Committed believer in and follower of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Belief in the Bible as the Word of God.

Ability to articulate personal faith and preach effectively.

Ability to disciple young professional adults on an individual and small group basis.

Willingness and ability to reach out to un-churched.

Ability to lead with maturity and work as a team with staff and committee members.

Motivated and self-disciplined, with strong program and time management skills

Experience in Missions ministry.
