Our Temporary Associate Pastor will serve the whole congregation as part of a pastoral team of three, with particular concentrations as described here. She or he will be supervised by the Head of Staff (HOS) and work closely with him. As this is an temporary role, the position is designed as a 12-month position with the possibility of extension for a second year.
Work as a full member of the pastoral and staff team;
Pastoral care duties as assigned, including funerals and weddings as agreed to;
Regular worship leadership;
Educational leadership as assigned;
Depending on experience, preaching up to 6 times per year, including leadership of special services.
Program area responsibilities. As the Temporary Associate Pastor, this person will work in close collaboration with the Head of Staff (and other staff when relevant and assigned), providing pastoral leadership in the following areas:
Membership Development – Develop and execute ministries of outreach for growth, visitor and new member follow up, new member assimilation, member connection, and volunteer recruitment and training.
Deacons’ Ministry – Serve as pastoral leader for our Deacon’s Board and its ministries.
Stephen Ministry -Provide pastoral leadership for a robust Stephen Ministry program, transparently to the pastoral staff.
Family Ministries (cooperatively) – If skills align, work with Directors in Family Ministry areas to develop ministries for families.
Program Development – The Temporary Associate Pastor might be asked to work with the Pastor and lay leadership in developing new worship opportunities and/or small group ministries.
Mission – Provide pastoral guidance to our Mission Education and Social Witness Ministry Group and related local and worldwide ministries, developing this area of ministry as approved by HOS.
Other – other areas of responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience: Ordained or in ordination process, in good standing, in the PCUSA or denomination with shared ministry agreement with the PCUSA. Relevant study, training, or experience beyond the MDiv a plus. Pinnacle will give special consideration to candidates that will help us reach missional goals of diversity and inter-generational ministry.
