    Job Description

    Overview

    A Calvary Campus Pastor is the person who provides leadership and coordination for ministry operations at a Calvary campus.  The Campus Pastor is an essential part of preaching/teaching ministry on his campus alongside the Senior Pastor.  A Campus Pastor reports to the Lead Pastor of Ministries and meets with the Lead Ministries Team and other campus pastors once a week. The Campus Pastor is primarily responsible for people, logistics, and quality control at their campus. Responsibilities of the Campus Pastor include the following:

    Vision-Based Leadership

    ·         The Campus Pastor uses his influence to continually reinforce Calvary’s vision consistent with Calvary’s Discipleship Frame.

    ·         The Campus Pastor constantly works and actively looks to instill the appropriate ministry culture at their campus consistent with the vision of the organization’s Ministry Team Leaders and the command of scripture to protect the unity of the church.

    ·         The Campus Pastor must connect with and understand his ministry context so that he can best reach and evangelize the community around his campus.

    Biblical Teaching

    ·         As a member of the teaching team at Calvary, the Campus Pastor should work diligently to improve his communications/preaching skills.

    ·         The Campus Pastor facilitates Starting Point and Covenant Membership at their campus in cooperation with the Connections Director to move attendees into active membership of the church.

    ·         The Campus Pastor may be called upon regularly throughout the year to preach or teach at another campus or network church.

    Weekend Services

    ·         The Campus Pastor will coordinate the worship service at his campus. He will be the face of Calvary to his congregation. He will host the service, greeting and welcoming attendees, and being accessible prior to and at the conclusion of the worship services to greet guests, encourage attendees, and work to build connection and community at Calvary.

    ·         The Campus Pastor is considered part of the teaching team at Calvary and will preach/teach many times throughout the year. He must be ready to preach at any time in the event the stream goes down at his campus.

    Pastoral Care

    ·         The Campus Pastor shepherds the congregation attending their campus. This includes personal connections and pastoral ministries such as pastoral counseling, weddings, hospital visitation, funerals, baptisms, as well as other pastoral functions as needed.

    ·         The Campus Pastor is responsible for the pastoral needs of his congregants and works to ensure that the spiritual needs of his campus are being met.

    ·         The Campus Pastor is responsible for appropriate reporting of pastoral needs and concerns to Calvary organizational leaders as necessary.

    Discipleship

    ·         The Campus Pastor is to recruit, train, and deploy new group leaders at his campus. He is to encourage connection and participation in Calvary Groups consistent with the Groups philosophy and guidelines used by Calvary’s organizational leadership.

    ·         The Campus Pastor will oversee all Connection Events including two (spring & fall) major events.

    Campus Operations

    ·         The Campus Pastor is responsible for the coordination of all facility needs in cooperation with the Facilities Department and to work with them to make sure all facilities are properly prepared for ministry events.

    ·         The Campus Pastor is responsible for working with Calvary’s Finance Department to make sure that any facilities or ministry related budgeting needs are reflected in the annual Ministry Plan prepared by the Finance Department each year. Ministry related items include expenses projected by the Campus Pastor as it relates to their specific role.

    Staff Relationships

    ·         The Campus Pastor works with the campus staff to ensure that Calvary’s overall objectives and goals for ministry are being met.

    ·         The Campus Pastor coordinates operational logistics on the weekend, as well as other ministry functions, to ensure quality control. As a result, the Campus Pastor needs to huddle weekly with campus staff, coaching for improvement.

    ·         The Campus Pastor has his eyes on the breadth of the ministries on his campus. As a result, sharing his insight for improving ministry effectiveness and feedback on maintaining a standard of excellence is not required.

    ·         The Campus Pastor can make recommendations as needed for staff hires and, if necessary, for staff dismissals or transitions. The final decision for all staff hires and fires belong to Calvary’s Executive Pastor.

    ·         The Campus Pastor coordinates or directs all operations of campus staff and ministries on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights to ensure proper execution of service determined by Calvary’s Lead Ministry Team Directors and Pastors.

    Leadership Development

    ·         The Campus Pastor works with campus staff to identify, recruit, and develop leaders within the campus congregation consistent with Calvary’s Leadership Pathway.

    ·         The Campus Pastor is responsible for providing observation and feedback for improved ministry effectiveness on his campus.

    ·         Calvary’s X150 Vision has provided us the opportunity to provide leadership directed at efforts surrounding church planting, missions, evangelism, foster care, adoption, and other areas of special interest. As a result, the Campus Pastor may be asked to serve on a sub-team or Task Force based upon experience, education, specific skills, or interests in conjunction with our X150 mission partners.

    Education and Experience

    ·         Bachelor’s degree required; Seminary preferred

    ·         5 years of local church ministry required
