Job Description

Position available immediately.

The Director of Children’s ministry is responsible for cultivating a positive working relationship with the staff and the congregation. This individual is also a representative of the Lead Pastor to the congregation and community. This requires grace under pressure, the ability to manage multiple tasks and the willingness to joyfully embrace the vision and values of the greater church. A positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills are required. This individual should also be open to the possibility of increased hours (and remuneration) as we investigate the possibility of midweek type programs and other such ongoing programs.

This individual will report to the Lead Pastor or their designate. In addition to the following duties, the Lead Pastor may add or subtract from this responsibility description based on the needs of the church.

A. General Responsibilities of all Staff
• To honor Christ in word and deed and model a theologically, spiritually and missionally vital lifestyle
• To maintain and model a servant attitude
• To approach ministry with a teachable spirit and a collaborative mindset
• To attend and contribute to weekly staff meetings.
• Any other responsibilities the Lead Pastor delegates.

B. Role Summery
• To provide leadership and vision to the children’s ministry of Heartland, A Church Connected.
• To develop a philosophy of ministry that is consistent & compatible with the vision and values HACC.
• To shepherd the children of HACC by feeding, leading, guiding, equipping and protecting them.
• To create strategic initiatives that assists the children’s ministry to reach its objectives.
• To partner with families in the nurture and development of their children.
• To regularly communicate with parents regarding events, themes and important dates via our newsletter

C. Expectations
• To build and work with a core lead team that helps you lead various volunteers.
• Work with volunteers to create a children’s space that augments the ministry experience.
• Responsible for scheduling weekly volunteers and curriculum distribution.
• Partner with our Youth Pastor for Plan to Protect training and implementation.
• Lead and organize for summer and march break vacation day camps.
• Organize a fall kick-off event in conjunction with other ministries as it relates to Sunday morning.
• Work with our worship, tech and drama volunteers to incorporate children into our Christmas.
• To work with our community engagement director to find creative ways our young families and children can be a part of Heartland reaching our community.
• While not necessary, the ability to work with video editing software or the aptitude to learn as we look to potential online ministry as it relates to children.
• Work with our Associate and Youth Pastor to investigate and prepare for the possibility of a midweek program at some point in the future (this would lead to an increase of hours/renumeration)
