Job Description

Fellowship Church Ministry Purpose:

  • To maintain, at all times, a reverence for the mission of Fellowship Church
  • To maintain a goal of excellence in execution of the entrusted role(s)

Position Overview:

The Biblical Life Center (BLC) & Lifelines Coordinator serves on the counseling ministry staff team of Fellowship Middlebrook. This position will be scheduled up to 29 hours per week and have a dual focus on leading and supporting the BLC in its administrative functions as well as helping launch our new Lifelines Surge Initiative. It is designed to accomplish the following:

For the Coordinator-

  • To provide a professional, encouraging & constructive ministry environment
  • To provide hands-on experience in leading administratively and launching a new initiative
  • To develop the Coordinator’s skill set in leadership, hospitality, coordination of care, program planning, and ministry to at-risk families

For Fellowship Middlebrook –

  • To strengthen the leadership and mission of the Biblical Life Center
  • To assist the BLC staff with daily and weekly administrative help
  • To assist the two pastors of Marriage and Family Ministry in their administrative and programmatic needs
  • To strengthen various ministries of the BLC (e.g. Marriage Innovators, Care Groups, ) in their seasonal functioning
  • To help pioneer, launch, and oversee Lifelines in its beginning stages of care for at-risk families and recruitment and training of volunteers

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand the Mission, Purpose and Core Values of Fellowship church and maintain behaviors that are consistent with
  • Understand the ministry purpose and demonstrate it in performance of job responsibilities

Biblical Life Counseling Admin (approx.8-10 hours per week)

  • Forwarding counseling requests to BLC staff counselors; Maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and ethical standards with any and all BLC counselees, requests, referrals, and records
  • Meet regularly with the Pastor of Counseling and maintain frequent meetings with other staff they support
  • Comply with Fellowship Church’s professional policies such as but not limited to dress code, time-away, financial management, technology use, dating policies, and others items listed in the Employee
  • Maintain personal organization in the front lobby workspace, computer, and storage areas
  • Check the BLC phone message system daily and relay message right away to ensure the BLC 24-hour response time
  • Create a hospitable environment for Counselees and staff as it relates to supplies, reception area, and facility requests
  • Offer as-needed admin support to BLC ministries such as Strong Hearts, , Care Groups, and the Pastor of Soul Care (e.g. picking up food for meetings, printing, )

Marriage and Family Admin (approx. 8-10 hours per week)

  • Supply admin support on daily/weekly tasks for the Marriage & Family Pastors (e.g. credit card statement, event planning, database , printing, etc).
  • Partner with Marriage & Family ministry and our Communications dept for various promotion for MF events via website or printed literature
  • Provide planning and prep for Disciple-Making parent community group (Sundays) as well as event planning support for MF mission trips, family events,
  • Partner with MF pastors for Marriage Innovators support (e.g. printing, organizing PREPARE/ENRICH appts, room reservation, )

Lifelines Coordination (approx. 8-10 hours per week)

  • Partner with Pastor of BLC to develop a small Lifelines team (of staff) to meet 2x monthly to hear cases, link to resources, and make benevolence decisions
  • Partner with Lifelines team to begin to implement Phase 1 of Lifelines process to identify, maintain, and grow our relationships to partnering agencies in Knoxville
  • Partner with Lifelines team to refine our Pastor-on-call system for benevolence and Lifeline needs
  • Begin the early stages of recruiting for Lifelines volunteers in our congregation while partnering with team to screen, equip, and mobilize new volunteers
  • Partner with Lifelines team to write pilot program (Lifelines Recovery Program)
  • Partner with student ministries to identify and connect at-risk families
  • Provide case management and face-to-face intakes of Lifelines prospects

Qualifications:

  • Must pass background check and complete SafeKids training
  • Ministry skills and competencies
    • Excellent with people and able to build relationships and teams with those in the ministry.
    • This person must be detail-oriented, able to identify and manage a lot of details at one
    • This person must have good time management skills and organizational
  • Language Skills (read, analyze, interpret, write effectively, present, )
      • Must demonstrate excellent writing skills especially grammar and
  • Computer Skills
      • Working knowledge of (or ability and willingness to learn) Microsoft Office programs, especially Outlook Email, also Word, Excel and Arena,

Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation):

  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
