Job Description

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, located in Crofton, Maryland, seeks a full-time ministry leader for Adult Faith Formation. This position will support and enhance an established program of welcome, hospitality and formation; including RCIA and RCIA adapted for children. Must be able to work flexible hours with activities running during the day, in the evenings, and many weekends.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Guide the Parish Adult Spiritual Enrichment Committee to determine appropriate parish programs to be offered. Coordinate all arrangements necessary to the programs including, but not limited to – obtaining speakers, calendar planning, meetings, etc.
  • Collaborate with neighboring parishes (St. Joseph, Our Lady of the Fields) to share new programs (lecture series, missions, days of retreat, etc.)
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Board of the Pastoral Council, attending those meetings as well as the regular Pastoral Council meetings. Plan a yearly retreat for the Council and assist the Executive Board in preparing for a discernment process for new leadership. Ensure that the Pastor or delegate prepares prayer with the Council each month
  • Attend Staff Meetings
  • To ensure compassionate outreach to the sick and elderly – act as staff liaison for the Caring Ministry Hospital Visitation Team and when possible visit the sick and elderly in homes and hospitals
  • Integrate into parish life through attendance at parish liturgies and social functions
  • Coordinate and act as spiritual resource for the Evenings for Women Program
  • Coordinate the Awakening Faith Program for Catholics renewing their faith commitment
  • Coordinate the RCIA process, including RCIA adapted for children
  • Facilitate Centering Prayer Group
  • Act as staff liaison for the Welcoming Committee – attend monthly meetings and social functions
  • Facilitate the Little Rock Scripture Study Program
  • Organize small groups for faith-sharing during the six weeks of Lent
  • Coordinate the parish simple meal (Soup and Bread) – held each Friday during Lent
  • Coordinate the Ethical Trade Christmas Bazaar – held first weekend of November every two years

Job Requirements

  • A practicing Catholic striving to live out the Gospel message
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have a heart for people and desire to see them grow in holiness
  • Experience in Theology, Catechesis, Religious Studies or another related field
  • Ability to work flexible hours in the evenings and many weekends
  • Successfully passes criminal background check as well as completes VIRTUS training for the protection of children and vulnerable adults
  • Supports the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and lives a life in conformity with Catholic teachings while embracing the role of serving as a public minister of the Church and representative of the parish
  • Proficiency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish is a strong bonus
