    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:  The Director of Majority World Deployment is responsible for leading the design (people, process, and technology) and implementation of holistic economic development programs in the Majority World.  This person manages the Director of Deployment—West Africa in order to bring Chalmers’ Ministry Design Principles to life in that region. This person further stewards the West Africa Program by enabling church-equipping organizations across the Majority World to adopt the programs developed in West Africa. The Director collaborates with senior management to design strategy and takes responsibility for achieving defined goals to create an effective stakeholder experience. The Director provides feedback to the Management Team on lessons learned from the field, on customer needs, and on current best practices and implements approved program improvements.


    • Commits to pray and advocate for the poor and the church in light of the mission of the Chalmers Center
    • In collaboration with Chalmers’ leadership, designs and implements a program strategy that equips the church to walk alongside people in poverty, contextualizing the strategy to West Africa and to partner contexts across the Majority World
    • Leads the Majority World Deployment team, including the Director of Deployment—West Africa, in order to promote a healthy team culture that achieves programmatic strategy and goals
    • Manages the ongoing operations of the Majority World Deployment Team including staffing, budgets, and program system support (people, process, and technology) for effective program delivery
    • Develops and installs programs in direct and indirect partners in a manner that services their particular needs while maintaining product integrity and Chalmers’ Ministry Design Principles
    • Collaborates with the Church and Partner Relations Team to develop indirect partnerships that leverage learning and social proof from direct and indirect partnerships in order to achieve program growth goals
    • Collaborates with the Kingdom-Centered Innovation Team and the Curriculum and Training Team to test and develop innovations, curricula, and programs
    • Assures program financial integrity in direct programming environments through managing financial controls, audits, scholarship grants, and training validation processes
    • Provides field-based input to the product (type c) development process to assure that new and existing programs provide the intended stakeholder experience and outcomes and continually adapts based on stakeholder feedback
    • Develops a team of trainers that are able to install programs in indirect partners
    • Represents Chalmers’ Majority World Deployment Team with funding partners through face-to-face collaboration, grant proposal input (in partnership with the Development team) and grant status reports


    1. Passionate for serving Christ’s Kingdom, the church, and people who are poor
    2. Flexible, problem-solving ability, desire to learn, and self-starter
    3. In-depth knowledge and experience in international development, including program design, execution, and management with mid-size to large-scale NGOs
    4. Knowledge in best practices of economic development including savings-based microfinance
    5. Deep commitment to Chalmers’ Ministry Design Principles and ability to consistently apply them in a wide range of settings
    6. Team-building skills including virtual teaming
    7. Demonstrated ability to develop outstanding facilitators and coaches
    8. High attention to detail
    9. Ability to work in cross-functional teams
    10. Significant cross-cultural experience and intercultural sensitivity
    11. High level of proficiency in English (written and verbal) required. Conversational French preferred.
    12. Bachelor’s  degree and five or more years of relevant work experience required
    13. Ability to travel up to 20%
