    Job Description

    Crossroads Christian Reformed Church in San Marcos CA is seeking a full-time Director of Youth and Worship Ministries. The ideal candidate is a deeply committed follower of Jesus Christ with experience and passion for both youth ministry and worship leadership. This person will plan, organize, and actively lead each ministry, along with volunteers.

    The Director will oversee and lead the High School & Middle School Ministries in a Christ-honoring way that helps students grow as disciples of Christ.

    The Director also plans and leads musical worship in Sunday and special worship services which will resonate across generations and artistic styles. This planning and leading of worship is done in collaboration with the Pastor and Worship Planning Team and includes scheduling and leading musicians and vocalists of all ages, including youth members of the band.

    Position Objective: To provide leadership to the Worship and Youth Ministries of Crossroads Church.

    I. Worship Responsibilities. Including but not limited to:
    ● Plan Sunday and special worship services which will resonate across generations and artistic styles.
    ● Communicate with the Pastor, Worship Planning Team and staff in planning worship services. Ensure Sunday logistics and details are fully prepared (order of service, production notes, audiovisual elements, audio and tech support and all other parts and participants in the service).
    ● Oversee the Praise Team, Pianists, Musicians, Sound Team, Video Team and Worship Planning Team. Recruit, retain and develop volunteer worship team members to fill the needs within Crossroads music ministry.
    ● Provide regular opportunities for training and workshops for musicians and other key participants in worship, equipping them to lead worship effectively.
    ● Cast vision for worship at Crossroads. Promote a sense of team responsibility for ministry goals and completion of tasks. Lead regular and timely rehearsals, communicate with musicians and organize the groups.

    II. Youth Ministries Responsibilities
    ● Oversee and lead the High School & Middle School Ministries in a Christ-honoring and youth-appealing way that helps them grow as disciples of Christ.
    ● Plan, organize and facilitate regular group meetings, service opportunities and occasional fundraising and social events. Publicize events effectively to parents, youth and the church.
    ● Organize participation of the high school youth in the combined Southern California CRC winter retreat or a similar event as approved by the Elders.
    ● Organize participation of the middle school youth in Camp Dunamis, clearly communicating all information to youth and families, and organizing travel to and from camp.
    ● Plan and organize a week-long high school youth summer mission/service trip or camp experience.
    ● Oversee and lead the PrayerForce ministry.
    ● Arrange and promote opportunities for youth to participate in the worship services.
    ● Recruit and train (as needed) parent volunteers to assist with youth group meetings and events.
    ● Meet with youth individually and attend their life events as appropriate.
    ● At least once per year, discuss with the whole group the significance to making profession of faith, and encourage those who have not yet done so to give serious thought to taking this step.

    III. Qualifications & Skills (Required personal and professional characteristics for the position.)
    ● Have a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Master of his or her life
    ● Be committed to and promote the mission, vision and core values of Crossroads CRC
    ● Be a regular attender and actively involved in the life and ministry of Crossroads CRC
    ● Have a love for the worship of God and a delight to help the body of Christ worship corporately.
    ● Be proficient in singing and playing piano or guitar with the ability to lead while playing
    ● Be committed to ongoing personal and vocational growth.
    ● Have strong organizational skills, creative thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Be self-motivated.
    ● Be able to work well with people.
    ● Possess a love for pre-teen and teenagers and a passion for discipling them in the way of Jesus Christ.
    ● Be able to communicate clearly and effectively, and be comfortable leading Bible studies and small group discussions with youth.

    IV. Reporting Relationship

    The Director of Worship and Youth Ministries will be hired by and accountable to the Council of the Crossroads Christian Reformed Church. He/she shall be directly supervised and annually evaluated by the Senior Pastor. Evaluations will take place in three and six months and on an annual basis after that.

    V. Position Compensation: Salary between $48,000 and $58,000 depending on experience, plus family health insurance.
