Church and Position Overview
Covenant Church (Greenville, NC) strives to fulfill Jesus’ instruction to make disciples. By this statement, we mean that we will each take personal responsibility for taking our next steps as disciples of Jesus and help others do the same.
Covenant currently has three weekend services on its main campus (Winterville) and one service at its Washington satellite campus. An average weekend attendance is 1900 – 2000 people. We are currently praying and planning for growth and expansion, and we want to take strategic steps to be a church actively reaching people of all generations. We believe with the right individual as Executive Pastor we can position Covenant Church to make an even greater Kingdom impact.
The ideal candidate is gifted in three specific areas:
1. Ministry Strategist
As the ministry strategist, this individual takes the vision of the church (and Lead Pastor) and implements it with the ministry staff of pastors, directors and coordinators. Aspects of this specific area include the following: goal setting and evaluation, strategic development, and mentoring. The ministry strategist studies trends and inspires other staff members to continue growing in their proficiencies. The strategist encourages staff members to think innovatively and creatively for their ministry areas and helps turn their ideas into realities. In addition to being innovative in church ministry, this leader should also be attuned to the world’s culture to help our church reach new populations of people for Jesus and communicate with those outside the church effectively. This individual also relishes the opportunity to encourage and cultivate the members of the staff.
This person can lead both structurally and organizationally. With strong leadership gifts, this person must know how to lead in his or her own style, yet follow the Lead Pastor. They must understand church culture, Covenant culture, and world culture better than anyone else on staff. This individual will lead staff training and will function as a great planner, strategic thinker and mobilizer.
3. Overseer of Operations
