To lead and serve in the Discipleship ministry of McIlwain Presbyterian Church, with a special emphasis in youth and family outreach and discipleship.
I. Responsible for the shepherding and administration of Youth and Family Ministry. Time commitment: 60%
A. Shepherd McIlwain youth by teaching and mentoring in a discipleship setting
i. Teach Youth Sunday School
ii. Develop and implement Youth discipleship
B. Shepherd McIlwain parents of youth by encouraging and equipping them to carry out their discipleship responsibilities
C. Build relationships with parents and their youth
D. Coordinate the Youth & Family Ministry Team
i. Recruit, encourage and assist teachers, mentors & volunteers for junior high & senior high Sunday School
ii. Oversee Youth activities, service projects & outreach events
iii. Work to better integrate youth into the broader ministry of MPC
II. Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing specific outreach to Pensacola area youth and their families. Time commitment: 30%
A. Develop connections with area public Middle school and High school principals, teachers, and coaches
B. Serve ex–officio on the Mission to North America Ministry Team
C. Assist with assimilation of visitors with youth age children into community/ministry entry points (Youth, Children, LIFE Groups, Sunday School, Men’s and Women’s ministry)
III. Responsible to minister to the needs of the congregation–at–large. Time commitment:
A. Assist in leading corporate worship
B. Assist in occasional hospital visitation, especially with families of Youth
C. Assist in occasional pastoral counseling as needed.
D. Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor and/or Session.
A. Ordination in the Presbyterian Church of America
B. Master of Divinity
C. Minimum five years Youth and Family pastoral experience
D. Effective in teaching and communicating with youth and students
E. Effective leadership and mentoring skills
F. Ability to interact with and speak to popular culture with sincerity and winsomeness
G. Commitment to and ability to articulate the implications of Covenantal theology in the lives of the MPC community.
H. Ability to model submissive and teachable spirit
