    Job Description

    We are looking for a priest to disciple the next generation (youth) through equipping parents and overseeing youth ministry at Trinity and to assist the rector in pastoral duties in the wider congregation.

    Accountability and Support

    The Priest for Family Discipleship reports to the Rector while working with the Director of Children’s Ministry and other staff in a team approach to ministry. He or she directs and supervises the Youth Leader(s)/Mentors.

    • Ability to work as part of a team and submit to the Rector
    • Ordained in the Anglican Church in North America as a transitional deacon or priest
    • Understanding of discipleship curriculum aligned with developmental stages in the faith
    • Supportive of Godly Play curriculum for children and a relational discipleship approach to youth ministry (e.g. Engage)
    • Educated in how to rightly handle the word of God for preaching & teaching
    • Appreciation and knowledge of our Anglican heritage
    • Minimum of 2 years experience in youth ministry OR running a discipleship program
    • Ability/gifting in sharing the faith & discipleship
    • Track record of recruiting and leading teams of volunteers
    • Ability to direct the ministry of others
    • Experience in preaching, teaching, & pastoral care

    Areas of Responsibility: Administration

    Discipleship of Families
    • Equip & empower parents to disciple their youth (including developing resources for family-based spiritual practices in the home)
    • Identify, recruit, equip, & empower leaders for youth ministry and other ministries assigned
    • Develop & implement a consistent discipleship process from ages 0–18, including milestone events (baptism, first communion, confirmation) in collaboration with the Director of Children’s Ministry
    • Integrate children & youth into every ministry at Trinity, providing opportunities for leadership
    • Ensure all policies are enforced for the safeguarding of children and youth –including tracking compliance for all volunteers & staff
    • Collaborate with Director of Children’s Ministry and Oversee Youth Leader(s)/Mentors – including capacity and readiness to step in and actively participate and lead when necessary
    Pastoral Leadership & Care
    • Support the rector in his pastoral leadership & care of the congregation, including pastoral visits, planning & leading worship, and other duties as assigned
    Preaching & Teaching
    • Preach 6-12 times per year on Sundays (once per month), plus occasional special services
    • Assist in teaching for Christian education and formation
    Other Duties
    • Depending on your gifts and abilities, the Rector may assign other duties to help fill gaps, such as: assisting with communications, volunteer coordination & recruitment, facilities projects, etc.
