    Job Description

    Job Title:  Full Time Lead Minister

    Job Summary: 

    The Lead Minister will:

    • Preach, teach, train, disciple, encourage, and shepherd the congregation with Biblically sound principles for the purpose of fulfilling the Great Commission
    • Be a strong leader who encourages and works in cooperation with the church leadership, staff, and ministry leaders to implement WCC’s vision
    • Be accountable to the eldership and supervise staff
    • Encourage outreach and growth opportunities to connect with those within the congregation and others outside the church community
    • Be visible within the community as a representative of Jesus and His Kingdom

    Necessary Qualifications:

    • A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
    • Belief in the infallibility and inerrancy of God’s Word and committed to the theology and principles of the Restoration Movement
    • Committed to leading a disciple-making culture
    • Demonstrate competency in Biblical exegesis through expository and topical preaching
    • Establish and maintain God-honoring relationships with church leadership, staff, church members, and the greater community
    • Ability to organize work and set priorities
    • Communicate effectively
    • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with church leadership, staff, and members

    Education and/or Experience:  Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies and a minimum 8 years of ministry experience. Master’s Degree is preferred.

    Detailed Job Description:

    The responsibilities of the Lead Minister will include those listed below:

    Preaching/Teaching

    • Provide Biblically-grounded preaching
    • Collaborate with the Worship Minister in planning worship services
    • Be an active leader/teacher in our discipleship ministries

    Pastoral Care

    • Ensure the pastoral care of members
    • Engage with visitors and prospective members
    • Provide spiritual short-term counseling, and/or referrals as needed
    • Provide premarital counseling, officiate weddings, and perform funeral services
    • Be available to offer pastoral care in times of community crises

    Leadership

    • Participate in the development and implementation of the church’s vision and goals
    • Communicate the church’s vision and goals effectively
    • Empower and equip the leaders, staff, ministries, and members to implement WCC’s vision
    • Guide Washington Christian Church in helping people find, follow, and be like Jesus
    • Promote outreach into the community and surrounding areas
    • Coordinate and lead staff meetings and participate in meetings with church leadership
    • Maintain an agreed-upon schedule of office hours

    Personal & Professional Growth

    • Demonstrate a commitment to life-long learning
    • Meet at least yearly with the elders for review

    Compensation:

    • Full-time compensation package includes base salary and benefits and is based on experience
