To proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, teach the biblical revelation, engage in pastoral care, conduct the ordinances and functions of worship, and provide administrative leadership in all areas of church life and function.
The Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church (FBC), under the auspices of the Holy Spirit, will provide a balanced ministry of preaching, teaching, evangelism and pastoral care; proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. This position should be flexible with both traditional and contemporary services to reach and engage a diverse congregation. The Senior Pastor will provide spiritual, visionary and organizational leadership to the Deacons, Associate Ministers, and ministry teams and congregation at large. The position is to facilitate church growth, ministry, outreach, spiritual unity and vitality. The Senior Pastor is to be a champion of the church’s mission and vision in cooperation and coordination with church leadership and staff. The average Sunday morning worship attendance has been approximately 150. The ideal candidate will have a passion for evangelism, discipleship, missions, fellowship and worship. The ideal candidate should be committed to the continuing support of local and global missions. S/he should have a demonstrated life of prayer and consecration to build on biblical principles in his/her personal life and that of the church. The position of Senior Pastor is a full time position, including evenings and weekends, which requires flexible working hours for accessibility by FBC key leadership, church staff, congregants, community partners and business liaisons. Given this level of commitment, FBC encourages and expects the Senior Pastor to take time off during the week for a time of refreshing and renewal. FBC is willing to consider a candidate who resides or is willing to reside within a 30 mile radius in the Charlottesville/Albemarle County area.
$50,000 – $62,000 plus competitive benefits (includes housing allowance).
Required Education: Bachelor degree in theology or divinity from an accredited seminary and/or School of Theology.
Preferred Education: Master of Divinity degree or higher.
Required Ordination: Must be a minister ordained by a Baptist Church.
Required Experience: Relevant ministry leadership experience in preaching, spiritual leadership, biblical teaching and pastoral care. Experience in supervising ministerial and/or support staff.
Preferred Experience: Experience as a Lead/Senior Pastor or as an Associate Pastor with proven effectiveness in preaching, spiritual leadership, biblical teaching and pastoral care.
